I guess the Calgary fiasco had to do with Ducati demanding a stand alone building and or area for the Ducati's along with some other demands and they got told to get stuffed. Supposedly there's a done deal with someone else in Calgary, but it's not Blackfoot as they were not interested in the demands either. This is what I had heard..not sure the full monty of it.
Screw it, just put my deposit down. It's retarded overkill for me and my base satisfies every thing I can throw at it...but I have to have that R
Sort of back on topic..
But is it just me.. or does it seem that MCN and a few other rags have hidden agendas?
Seems to me honest reviews are becoming as rare as hens teeth.
I'd trust AH review over any of these other muppets any day.
Damn congrats, are you trading you other one in? Argyl is brutal now, ever since Derek left the new sales guy is an absolute tool. And it's not his faul, it's argyll's for not spending the money to train him.
Oh well.
Grats again on the R
What you hear can't be the whole story. I don't think Ducati would just dump a performing dealer solely because the dealer declines to participate in a design program.

Thanks! My review is up on this page of the Launch Thread:

I'll get more into my the behind-the-scenes journalist-impressions (which are quite positive), as well as behind-the-scenes everything else next.
And btw, the dude from MCN was super serious throughout the whole event. I didn't see him smile once! Definitely takes his job very seriously (maybe too much?).
We covered this already:
Base - is the bike..
S - LED headlights, electronic Ohlins suspension, CF front mudguard, lighter/different wheels
Tri - same as S, but with fancy paint job, Termi slips and DDA+
R - same as S, but with fancy paint job, full Termi exhaust, adjustable swing arm, a dozen carbon fiber bits to reduce weight, ti con rods, a lighter flywheel, DDA+ and 500 more RPMs to redline/more HP
Does anyone have the full list of parts that are carbon. Does it get the DP tail tidy?? I hope so....can't stand the look of the one that came on my base
No, it wasn't ducati dumping them, but the other way around.I'm sure there is more to the story, and I'm not sure how the red tape stuff works but from what I gather it was the current dealership saying thanks but no thanks
I'll be either trading mine in or selling it private if you have anyone interested. Has the DP tail tidy,Termi slip on and up map, stock seat, race seat and comfort seat. Mint, perfect, can save someone a few bucks over new.
Sounds like in high school where each half of a former couple claims to be the one who broke it off
I was insinuating that there have been other dealers who also said the same no thanks to Ducati programs, yet still carry the bikes.
Damn it where we're you when I ordered my comfort seat lol. I don't think you'll have any problems selling it private. I looked for one for the past 3 months on kijiji and finally snagged a S for a great price.
You should take the termis off and sell them separate, I took all my after market stuff off my streetfighter and made some good coin on it.
This is all it gets.
This is all it gets.
What will happen when they come out with R Tri? will people sell their R for the R Tri? or next year Ducati may come out with light weight piston and the engine will rev higher like V4's that produces more HP's similar to the RS? Keeping up with new technology is an expensive endeavor and at some point when do we say I'm happy with what I have and I'm keeping it?
Well, I'm happy with what I have so I'm keeping mine, but I will be adding the R to my collection really really soon
I'm very curious to hear what the price will be in Canada and I'm waiting to hear back from my sales guy...hopefully today. I don't "need" it, but I am entrigued. However, they wanted 32k last spring for a Tri...which just about blew my socks off.
What happens to many of us, is this. Most base model litre bikes are more than enough for the strong percentage of us. Budget sometimes dictates trying to save a few dollars. Then after awhile..you sometimes wish you would have ponied up for the extra bling. It's not that you need it..but lots of us end up wanting it.It sucks regretting down the road on a major purchase. It's not that you don't love what you have..it's just a maybe I shoulda.
I just went through that with my Aprilia purchase. It was a new, but left over 2010 RSV4 Factory...wicked friggin bike. However when i went to the dealer that day, I went to purchase The R model..had no intent on the Factory. Both deals were wicked, but with the factory sitting there and only a few thousand more, I jumped on it and am glad I did. With my Panigale,I had been on the waiting list on an S but they could not give me an honest answer on when they could get me one.I hate waiting and wondering. I couldn't even get an answer on when I could get a base either.I was at the dealer at the right time when the sales guy came up and told me the guy's financing fell through on the base ABS and it was mine for the taking...i jumped on it. So, it's sort of a double edged sword.I'm thrilled I got the extra bling on the RSV4, but am not really sad I didn't on the Panigale.I honestly don't think I could exploit any advantage out of an S model performance wise, but the extra bling would be cool and had an S been there,I likely would have jumped. I'm guessing the R model in Alberta is gonna be 36-38k to get it out the door. There's lots of money here and they know someone will cough up. At that price, it's just too much for me, but if it was low 30's I'd strongly consider it.
I agree... there's not $3K difference between the two let alone the $5K that it actually is.
