Help Support Ducati Forum:

The fact that you guys are still hanging out on this side of the road tells me it's a ghost town on your side and I don't even have to go look.

It is, and no-ones claiming anything different. I'm for the community, not any particular forum but in the absence of any alternative I took some action.

I invested my time and coin to set up somewhere where we could avoid the spam etc. I have nothing to gain here, just trying to be helpful.

If the community is happy to be treated with disdain by the current forum owner then that's fine. I can't imagine that we'd all be hear in the first place if the current situation was how it started.

The other forum doesn't have a lot of member or existing posts but it offers a place where we can have some control over the spam and idiots like Craigslist.

Just offering a positive resolution, even if its only temporary and we all come back here after things are sorted.

+1 on mods, light touch. Like the rest of you folks, we are all members of 5 or 6 other forums, this one is not bad. Good bunch of folks.

the one thing that amazes me sometimes is how little that is required to set a thread ablaze and the speed it escalates with... sure some selfimposed etiquette and restraint could bring 90% of what we want.. ignoring those we don't want to talk to must still be pritty effective... Craig succeeded in attracting more responses by simply showing up then many an interesting thread. :)

He's not the worst thing in the world. I just think he needs a nudge in the right direction. Maybe we can channel some of his posting energy and send him over to WA's forum as a "load tester". Then if we can find a way to divert the "watch this for free" guys over there we'll be set. Then we can have a forum for people that like to watch free movies and enjoy the occasional massive virus infestation that also caters to the insanely gullible with a pocketful of money orders. Then this place can be back to business as usual.

I nominate the following for moderators.

Frosty Fire
VAST
Caliduc

That ought to keep things under control LOL!

The amazing thing to me is how many folks keep commenting and complaining about him - even starting a post about him. If you want him to go away, ignore him. This is not rocket science. If everyone quit going places just because there is one or two people who annoy them everyone would be holed up in their basement living like a hermit. People need to accept that there are shitheads everywhere and on every forum - even the ones that are over moderated.

No ....... really i can do that? :rolleyes:I/we can ignore him but it doesn't help the fact that he is bumping 1+ year old threads with needless comments.

It's not a rocket science to figure that out.

Not a fan of having moderators everywhere but we need a couple with more interest/time than Duc to keep a lid on the spam and remove the occasional tool.

and craigslist is doing his not so successful Andy Kaufman forum routine. it's okay...

.... You still don't get it I guess. Again, the point is, by him doing that it hides other threads (interesting) that is relevant (current) and threads I would like to read. Instead, there is 2 pages of old threads like spy shot of first Panigale.

I get it. And yes, there was a day or two that a bunch of his threads took up most of page one. But that did not last, and will not last if people ignore him. What I get is that there are other ways to deal with the issue. I've seen this many times. He'll go away completely if and when he realizes that he is being totally ignored. Or maybe he'll clean up his act and become a contributing member. I was asked to leave this forum before I bought my bike because I had the audacity to state my opinion on the heat issue because all I had done was test ride a bike, and did not own one yet. Maybe the moderators should have banned me for having an opinion without owning a bike -do you think? (yes, I realize I'm over stating it to make a point).

I get that there is good and bad to increasing the moderating of the forum. There is seldom any free lunch in this world. I have over 25,000 posts on the Corvette forum over the past 12 years. For a long time they were seriously over moderated. They were over moderated to the point where (drum roll please) some folks decided to start another Corvette forum. Sound familiar?

I'm open minded to all the comments being made. I just hope it's a two way street.

Its definitely a 2 way street and whomever asked you to leave here due to your initial post was narrow minded and quick to judge..But...CL is the sort of issue that a moderator (Duc) would/should zap immediately and stop any feeling that we are quite simply an irrelevant bunch... As stated the idea of moderation of this forum does not come easy to me but many friends have pointed out that our forum is becoming a laughing stock and given the generally high quality of posts/posters on here I think that's a shame...

My Suggestion

I think the membership should submit names for mods to Duc and he should post a poll up where people can vote for them 3 times so three can be selected. I forget the number of choices polls can have, anyone recall?

This way he is absolved from making this decision and the membership can make this choice for him. Trouble is getting him to answer anyone here at all to do something like this! :D
