That's great . I was talking about me and I forgot about you . Sorry next time I talk about what I like I will check with myself .

Ok that would be awesome!
Jk. In all seriousness you said a 600cc is the last thing you'd want to ride and I was just curious why. Talking about track only here.

I find on the track, torque doesnt matter as much. I don't feel like anything is lacking when I have the R6 out there. On the street, I agree torque is great.

BTW your post has far too many generalizations to be taken seriously.

you've never been to a Tennessee bike night then. Squid heaven. The shriek of an army of straight-piped 600s doing burnouts.

On a track, whether torque matters depends largely on technique. Torque made Bayliss and Haga hugely competitive despite a gaping horsepower deficit between the 1098R and fully built Japanese inline-4s. Corner exit drive.

The same can be said of any bike type / mfg. Squids are everywhere riding everything.

I just don't really enjoy riding them . I don't like where the bike makes power I don't particularly like the ergonomics of 600's the people that ride them are usually cheap and they tend to smell .

true. I mean, you always see tons of punk kids on BMW R1200GS Adventures with hacksawn pipes, bouncing those Boxer Twins off the limiter, terrorizing neighborhoods...

Fair enough man. I can't afford a panigale in cash. I guess I am cheap!

No but you see the same squids on 600s or 1000s. The displacement doesn't matter.

The original post you made is unfortunately a bunch of rubbish. Just admit it and we can move on.

I did actually laugh out loud at this, very good Wilks.

haha - talk about a generalization, don't all racers stink after being in leathers all day?

Nope.

I wear extra deodorant and cool off in the Hauler between races. And halfway during the day (lunch) I take a shower and change my undersuit. :p

do you even own a 1299? I see 1098, R6....seems like you're a bit lost. We talk about 1299s here. You know, the bike that weighs the same as an R6 but makes double the power and triple the torque...

Nope.

how ghetto! I have a special cooling booth set to 40 degrees fahrenheit and I put on a new set of leathers per session. Actually, that's a lie; I don't put on the new suit. My valets put the suit on for me.

I then retire to my Class A motorhome, where gorgeous blonde masseuses work me over until it's time for my group to head out again.

I thought all Ducatisti did this?

Certainly do not. There is no forum rule where one has to own the 1299 to be part of the forum.
I came here to learn and discuss.

BTW nice try to change the subject.
I shall repeat your idiotic post below so we can all laugh at the failure of your attempt to be funny.

agreed. Ducati riders tend to like torque, and the idea of being on a buzzy whining machine with a whopping 40 lb/ft torque PEAK, I'd rather walk.

Besides, the 600cc inline-4 is the bike of choice for many an 18 year old, who buys one fifth-hand, only been laid down a couple times, hacksaws off the muffler, then rides around banging off the 16k rpm rev limiter.

allow me to repost my statement:

I'm not attempting to be funny. I am stating that I would prefer walking to having to ride a 600cc bike.

I am also stating that I see squids on 600cc bikes bouncing their bikes off the limiter EVERY WEEKEND WITHOUT FAIL.

so are we back on the subject? let me broaden it a bit more for you:

I have never bought a Japanese bike, nor will I ever buy a Japanese bike, regardless of displacement. Call me a snob. Go ahead. I'm a Ducatisti :p

And I said, there are squids on all sorts of displacement bikes acting like idiots. 600s, 750s, 1000s doesn't matter.
But hey, if all you see are 600cc riders acting like squids and not other types of riders, then who I am to say you're wrong.

From the bolded portion, it would appear I am arguing with someone of significantly less intellect than myself. I apologize and am sorry for wasting your time.

Have a good day and enjoy your 1299.

Fair enough. I like all bikes regardless of make.

actually, you have a valid point. Squids running on bikes with loud straight pipe exhausts, broken fairings, etc...those bikes do vary in displacement. I concede that point.

But invariably, such bikes are of Japanese manufacture, and are invariably inline-4s.

And I will go and enjoy my 1299S (don't forget the S, that's a rather important letter), immediately following my tea and crumpets.

Let's see, who invented the modern, full fairing, brightly colored, fast sport bike?

That would be Kawasaki with the original Ninja 900 - before I saw one I never gave a rip about motorcycles. Saw a guy hauling ... on one in red leathers and bought one the next year. Everyone who came after should be thanking Kawasaki for inventing the genre.

The GSXR750 was the next major step forward, and Ducati's 916 plays a part after that, which Yamaha absolutely copied with their 1998 R1, but sport bikes would not be where they are now without the Japanese, so the snob stuff is laughable to me, and "Ducatisti" sounds like something some chick wiped her ... with...
