MUGELLO TRACK DAYS - Info & group days
(It may be possible to get a group together for a discount and good times. Let's see if we can get critical mass on a calendar)
Track Write-Up with photos HERE, PAGE 3
General INFO:
Track Day Operators
The dominating operator with the most Mugello days is PromoRacing. They told me if I get a group together they can think about a discount. They say they can also provide bikes if anyone wants to fly in. Depending on dates and availability they say they have access to Panigale to rent as well. We have to confirm availability in advance before buying tickets!
There is also Rosso Corsa who may be less expensive but allows more people on the track. Same with a few other outfits that are much smaller. I'm noticing prices are up from last year across the board.
PromoRacing is really good. I've done over 10 track days with them. I never felt like there was traffic on track. Slick organization.
Included: Photos, official track timing, overnight parking lot access and you can bring whatever. People show up with semitrailers and every kind of bus, camper etc. Parking lot is very secure. 24/7 guards and surveillance. Zero issues ever. Massive walls around the entire park.
They do genuinely 6, :20 min sessions a day. 3 Pre lunch sessions, they analyze everyone's timing; 3 after lunch sessions they do "comparative sessions" where you line up in your group in order of who's fastest and do a soft start from pit lane. I love this. You get to chase everyone just slightly faster than you. Last session of the day is an Open session and several groups ride together though usually there are very few that ride it. Usually it's the fastest fittest guys getting in one last session.
Paddocks 70€ on top of track day cost, & are pretty dang nice. Shared space with typically 6-8 other bikes and there is plenty of room, electricity, and your own bathroom / shower. You can park smack in front of your Paddock and leave cars vans bikes etc over night.
(BYOBabes)
Track Day Prices for weekends and holidays are more. (eg. € 329 in MAY ) Weekdays (eg. €299 in April)
There are package deals like 2 or 3 day weekends.(eg. € 589 Sat + Sun in MAY ) Other packages may be something like buying 6-8 sessions for a discount. Prices tend to go up mid spring into summer. Better to reserve soon. Summer does sell out late spring early Summer.
Tire Service
Pirelli service is €50 for tire changes and correct pressure set up and they are spot on but you have to ask, otherwise they hand your bike back with 3 times too much from seatting the tire expecting your want to set it. Only beef is that they don't stay late or get there early. So if you use them the day of your track event, you miss the first session. I usually take my bike over the night before, have them change to slicks, then I pack up my bike in the paddock over night with tire warmers ready to roll at 7:30AM.
Track Simulation Preparation (PALIX Racing)
Right near the track there is a simulator you can ride to learn the track with coaching. Excellent coach. In Florence there are other simulators that are more video game style, less coaching.
Ping me if you want the hook up.
Track Food
There's a cafeteria restaurant, café, and coffee cart at the track.
Food off track
Tuscany. It's pretty outstanding and doesn't cost all that. The Mugello area is particular for its 0 kilometer farm to table restaurants. I mean most everything including grains, cows, cheese, wine, is cultivated / made right here. The pizza is outstanding, wood fire standard. Also famous "bistecca fiorentino" is a black-and-blue cooked steak you order by the kilo and it's enormous. Those cows are from right here. This subject can be a book. Cutting it short here.
Bicycles
The evening before your track day you may bring a bicycle and ride the track freely from 6PM track closure to past sundown. This is one of my favorite things ever. Ridiculous fun and gives intimate knowlege of the track. I give my maximum recommendation.
Tuscany
Florence is :35mins away from the track either by highway or gobsmacking nice mountain roads.
Generally speaking the riding around Tuscany is rather epic good. This LINK will is all about that. Northern mountains are tighter curves, south of Florence is gentler hills, bigger sweepers. Not every road has perfect pavement but almost all of Tuscany is hills and mountains, so it's curvy EVERYWHERE.
Cops on the road are almost non-existent though now and then in the summer they'll put up speed traps. In cities and villages there are speed cameras.
Chianti is south of Florence another :45mins. and is also mind-blowing stunning riding through vineyards. Bring home a lot of wine or you're dumb.
More info to come. Track maps etc. Post questions I'll get to them.
