Dealer installed the system on my V4SF a couple of weeks ago and so far it's been a complete waste of money. To make a long story short, it basically just doesn't do much of anything. It paired up, and after that I haven't been able to get anything useful out of it. The app is shockingly bad for an official Ducati product, and the dealer has so far not been much help.
They installed it, but clearly do not want to get involved in the IT tech support aspect of getting it to work. The dealer confirmed it is the right unit and is hooked up properly, but quite honestly from what I've seen the software doesn't seem compatible with the SF. Don't know if it's any better on the Panigale, but on the SF it's rubbish.
If you would have checked this thread prior to purchasing you would have known?...
Again as above:
"...I would only buy DMS for controlling music and calls. This works ok with iPhone and Cardo (G9) headset. I listen to my music on the boring highways.
(Still) forget about usable Link app usage (on any V4) and if you do, never ever ever use both Link app with Music/Call streams simultaneously.
Since with current old DMS hardware tech and buggy app state, dual data streams will crash the connection(s) ánd this sorry app. good luck"
If your dealer installed DMS correctly then Music, SMS and Calls should work fine.
Dunno about Android, but with iPhone on most recent iOS this works fine in conjunction with e.g. a normal non-Ducati branded Cardo G9 BT Headset.
Since PV4 and SFV4 have the same dash and DMS module as option, these steps might help to make DMS work for you too:
1) delete all BlueTooth pairings with bike in both your phone and headset (if case you have tried this before).
2) delete all BT pairing in bike
3) pair the phone as phone to the bike
4) pair the headset as headset to the bike
(before every ride!)
5a) tip: maximise audio volume on smartphone (if possible as with iOS)
5b) tip: sometimes opening the Music/Spotify apps and activating album/ playlist first, helps the DMS finding this pre-selected music content better during pairing phase (step7)
6) make sure (BT of) both phone and Headset are active/on
7) after switching on ignition, both phone on headset should automatically connect to bike (2 icons on dash turn dark and (when helmet on) also audible confirmation(s) via headset)
6/7b) tip: doing this in reverse by first switching on bike+DMS, regularly results in non-connect of either phone, headset or both.
8) via bike you should be able to basically control the -prior via phone app(5b)- selected songs in playlist via left steering controls.
9) tip: sometimes if you loose BT connection between bike and headset while riding, switching headset off/on and directly(!) after also the bike's in-dash Music setting off/on, restores BT connection (not always, then back to 6)).
Refer to manual for functions and available controls. It takes some time to get used to operate the DMS controls intuitively.
