How to: take off seat 4mm Allen. Take off key lock cover 3 and 4 mm Allen. Unmount seat and tank holder4 mm Allen and 8mm socket. Lift tank, disconnect fuel pump connector, ground pin (rear section) and fuel line (under tank) .

Take out two screws on the front sides. 5mm Allen. Lift front right to get to the 2 vent hoses. Open clip on 1 and pull both hoses off. Lift tank and store at a safe place. Take off rubber lip on frame.

Clip out air filter holder and take bracket out. (Not much space here but some wiggling helps). Take out filter and see that no dirt or dust falls into throttle bodies.

Now, the MWR filter looks like it won't fit in there. But it works! See which side goes up and bend the brackets to the inside and insert them down into air box, filter facing upwards. Bend them to get the filter as far down as possible and then work the filter forward. Make sure not to get hung up with the scews on hoses it wires. Move it in position and rest the brackets on to the tabs.

Put all back in place...

Sorry, don't have pics, maybe the next one can take some. Or anyone in the Greenville SC area - I can assist.

Cheers,

I have a whole bunch of pics I took because I was gonna do a how to but found a small video here some where that kinda explained it so I didn't do it. If you guys want I'll write up a detailed how to with step by step pics if you guys think that'll be helpful?

I think it would be great to have a full write up with pics for the forum.

No offense Phil your pics and info were good also!:)

No prob guys. I'll try and do it up tonight if I don't get to annoyed on this iPhone. It's all I got right now lol.

does the filter work without any specific tuning / mapping? Where can I get one in Australia....need it for next Wednesday, anyone cant find anywhere online?
Many have reported that it does indeed work just fine with no tuning. I suspect that it has something to do with factory maps being plenty rich, so a little bit of leaning out don't hurt things. Bellisimoto does have them on their site :D

Grazie Mille to Phil and Cobra700 for their input, this is how a forum is supposed to work!

Had my dealer install a BMC filter...took them like 20mins or so...quick clean straight forward job...as my old oem pleated paper airfilter was clogged with so much dirt at 7,400kms/4600miles...the BMC breathes definitely much better than stock.

The MWR engineering design is intruiging as it claims to add more air pressure around the internal sides of the airbox? Well, I'm sure it works as you dont get too much rammed air going in... hmmmmmmm....interesting though. Looks trick too.

MW-R HE Air Filter

Had tech install the MW-R HE while doing first service. Only 1000km but airbox was clean. OEM filter looks like it makes for a pretty good seal to me and it was also clean. Got 100 miles on the machine today and didn't detect any difference in power using frequent WOT 9500 - 10,000 max in 3rd and 4th. Also experienced the same lack of low rpm smoothness which I now view as normal for this machine (shorter stroke and lighter flywheel?). Didn't stall before and doesn't stall now. If it makes for a good seal that's the main thing.

Mine seems to run worse after the filter install at around 4k rpm. And it was nice and smooth with the stock filter.... Gonna see what the termis and new map will do once I install them tomorrow.

I had the Termi slip-ons and up-map installed a couple weeks before the MWR filter install. I didn't notice any change in smoothness of the fueling at any rpm after the install. The intake howl seems a bit louder and a slightly difference character. Wish I could have done before/after dyno runs but everything seems fine afterwards. The bike is insane fast now with a -1, 14T front sprocket and the above mods.

HE vs Racing filter
which one gets the best gains?

to quote MWR:
<<<The Full Race filter , developed on the track , NOT on a dyno but in real life , bikes with Dataloggers for the ultimate performance , with new materials and new design, protection is on the same level as the filters above , only for a shorter time. Check afther every raceweekend your filter . Make sure you start evey raceweekend with a well oiled filter>>>

to be honest i don't understand your question. what are you looking for? dyno charts? ask MWR and post them up here...

race implies power and more maintenance.
HE means high efficiency (higher than stock) and less maintenance than race.

so .... ???
