Please excuse the chicken strips!!!
I haven't even had the bike for a week yet and I haven't even done 150km :D

Hello sir! How do you find the slip on akra? Does it sound like the full sys?

I bought my bike brand new and I had the dealership install the slip on mufflers before I took delivery.
When I picked my bike up, I was lucky enough that there was a Speciale with a full Akrapovic system sitting right next to my bike.
I asked the dealer if we could start up both bikes to compare the sound and noise level.
He started up my bike and I couldn't believe how loud it was. I was assuming that the slip ons were going to be quieter than the full system.
As soon as he started up the Speciale, I was happy that I didn't spend the extra money on buying the full system. The slip ons sound nearly exactly the same as the full system and my bike was actually considerably louder than the Speciale.

Of course the full system looks bad arse with the pipes coming through the belly pan and gets you an extra 4 HP over the slip ons. But wasn't worth the extra $2000 difference in my opinion.

I hope this helps you mate.

Mate where did you get your carbon frame covers from? are they available in Aus ?

I think the reason why yours was louder is because the baffles are not in your slip on and they were probably in the full system on the Speciale. I was gonna take them out of mine but she's loud enough for me:)

Surprisingly the baffles were removed from both bikes.

Even the dealer was shocked that mine was louder as it doesn't make sense why slip ons would be louder.

I'm currently doing the 1000km break in and staying under 6,000rpm, and to be honest, you can't even go over 6,000rpm without being over the speed limit in most situations.

Sorry for the thread necro, but I am in the running-in period for my V4R and at 6000 RPM in 6th, I am pootling along at 74 MPH. Is my big geared oddly or something? Is this something unique to the R's? Frankly, it's absolutely killing me and I'm about to just say "F it" and let 'er rip.

I have no idea if the V4R is geared differently to the V4S, but it would make sense as your R has a higher rev limit.
