lol no thanks i am not into baggers.

I have a feeling the livery would look a lot like an Anniversario. Best looking color combo to date with perfect proportions imho.
Hey so why aren't my gold wheels mag?!
I want to see a "TJ99 Edition" 1299 set up how he would want it. That would be a special edition!
There seems to be a disproportionate amount of venom in many of the posts on this thread. Mostly over the constituent parts of the 2017 SL. The bike is what it is. The price dictates it as un-affordable to most and in being out of reach financially to the majority of us, seems to trigger a wave of criticism. Not withstanding that fact, they've all sold out regardless of the banter, so all the negativity in the world won't change that.
- Graphics scheme that was mostly visible carbon fiber (like an RS), with accents of the fluo red. On some leading edges, for the bike name, etc.
- SBK-spec Febur radiator
- Carbon ceramic brakes
- Gas-charged forks
- Forks and shock sprung for the rider weight
- SBK-spec adjustable rearsets and levers
- Full LED headlight
- Magnesium swingarm
- Carbon gas tank
- Super trick gas tank filler
- Pit lane speed limiter
- A different racing kit, with more of the things that track junkies value. Carbon case and swingarm protectors, fork protectors, and tire warmers, for example.
And finally,
- A folding titanium ignition key, something that in itself would be an object you could just sit and admire
It would've been a bit more expensive, but worth it I think. There would've been some additional "money can't buy" perks included with the purchase. And I'd probably have made twice as many of them...or maybe 1199.
Well since you brought it up...honestly if I were calling the shots there wouldn't be a 1299 SL. Instead you'd have some other special like a turbo Diavel or a "true race" 959 R set up for the track like no Ducati has ever been.
I'd have left the original 1199 SL to stand on its own for a while. But THAT one would've had:

I couldn't careless about not being able to afford that bike i have better things in life to spend money on ... Ducati = unreliable .... quality bikes anyway.
I only bought these 1299/1299S because i like the shape - not because i like the brand ... my bikes spent more time at the stealership getting fixed than on the road having fun.
Sorry to hear of your specific woes with the brand, though not sure I agree with your sweeping generalisation of the marque as a whole. Aside from my bike, I'm still running a 13 year old Monster around which has been utterly reliable and I've owned several Ducatis over the years, none of which have ever let me down.
I am not naive enough to believe or would refute the fact that the brand is not devoid of it's QC problems and there will always be the odd lemon coming off the production line. Neither is it my intention to open up a can of worms over the whole brand bashing thing, 'my bikes not fit for purpose', yada yada yada argument, as this has frankly been done to death on here already, so I'll just move on. You are of course entitled, as is anyone, to your own opinion. I merely sought to point out that the price tag of products, often conjures up some unique responses, mostly criticisms from those not in a position to afford them (which on here constitutes most of us, if we are talking specifically about the 1299SL)
Like you it does not bother me that I can't afford that sort of investment and in any case it would be hard for me to justify the price, with other priorities in life, though were circumstances different I might well have considered purchasing one. One unfortunate side effect of exclusive models is that they bizarrely seem to alienate people from the brand. Perhaps they feel by criticizing it, it somehow panders to the irrational sense of inadequacy they feel by only being able to afford a 'lesser' model. It's surely about being happy with what you have and can comfortably afford. I can lust after a number of things I will never likely be able to own. But I don't feel at a dis-advantage as a result.
No bike or product should however be exempt from open and fair criticism, from paying consumers, but the SL does seem to generate a lot, partly I am summizing, because people feel it somehow needs to justify it's price tag, despite them not being in any position to buy one, which renders their misgivings pointless. I don't feel it needs to justify itself to anyone. It is what it is. Take it or leave it. They will sell regardless. I would hazard a guess most of the 500 buyers don't give a stuff about whether it's the sensible choice or not. They see it as an investment or something they aspire to and can afford to own, so why not.
Paying that much up front in cash is stupid. Financing these days have super low rates. I'd rather finance a toy like a motorcycle and do something better with the rest of that money rather than blowing all $20k-80k at once. Unless of course money is no object then it doesn't matter. Financing something won't add any risk to something getting repossessed. Lack of financial responsibility and spending outside of your means will.

My problem is i only buy bikes with cash and that limits me to what i could afford to buy
I will never buy a bike or anything on finance - in my city there are so many cars and bikes getting repossess because people cant afford to pay for living beyond the means of their expectations.
Maybe i should start looking into buying repossessed toys i will probably have a better chance of getting closer to owning something like the SL hahaha.
Same .I don't like financing .
Now that's vision. It's too bad you're no longer there. They seem to have lost a key component in their staff. Their loss.
That's a great list of things and for all that, I'm certain potrntial buyers would have no issue paying 1299SL price or maybe even more.
Me three. Probably why I am still driving my passport to motoring luxury, a 1999 Toyota Camry.
Something kinda like this..? Pictures don't do this one justice, but it's probably the best SL I've seen by a good margin.
