New 2022 V4S with WRONG FORK

Does the swingarm pivot also run through the engine?

Build date is Jan 2022. So it must be one of the first of the 2022 bikes to be built which is unnerving.

It does go through the engine

Doesn’t production usually start a couple of months before the end of the previous year?

Crazy situation, but I am sure they will rectify in good time. Also interesting to learn that the forks will be backwards compatible.

I’m dubious about that, the guy in charge of the shop at Ducati Newport Beach actually called Italy and spoke with them about it and they said the 2022 front forks run off a different software that was not compatible with my ECU.

I’d love to find out he’s wrong.

I think the big presumption there is you keep to stock settings.

I wonder if you could drill that channel out on the older bikes, and fit a spacer, to allow the 22 bike swingarm pivot point. Then fit the black 22 brackets. Voila, much better handling bike...

That should work in theory.

Another option is to swap the old case for the new one. Pricier but it’s an idea I’ve had.

I wonder what the V4R engine pivot looks like?

The spacer idea is cool though. One could adjust swing arm position in both axis (up/down and wheelbase) if space permits.

I think you’d only need the eccentric spacers to do this from how I’m reading this schematic. (Retracted) 31427B0E-1FD7-4275-B195-F85ED3816580.jpeg

Item two, is eccentric, which provides the adjustment. These parts aren't expensive, if I had the base pre22 bike, I'd probably give it a shot.

Back to the original thread, how did it end up being built like that ? Did it leave the factory like that? How did the Ducati dealer not see it on a PDI?

That said parts are at a premium and it wasn't uncommon historically for ducati to just use whatever was available at the time..

I personally would have no faith in the bike supplied as it all being a genuine 2022 spec machine and would reject it... I guess you will say the trouble is you don't know where or whether another another will arrive?

That’s my thinking. If they’ve missed an obvious part like this, what else is wrong. The dealer (Wheels in Motion in Chatsworth CA) service manager said it took him 15 mins to figure out the discrepancy which doesn’t really instill confidence. The reviews of this dealership we’re good. For being Ducati’s flagship product, they should should make this right.

Apparently you can fit the eccentric adjusters from the R on the 2020+ model allowing adjustable pivot height rather than fixed. I have an R motor and an S motor in the workshop i will post pictures tomorrow
Here’s what the back of a 22 crankcase looks like. The pivot bolt is centered so the higher swingarm pivot height seems to be dictated by the lower half of the crankcase and rearset carrier?
