Found this beauty on Craigslist being sold by a friend of the previous owner. Sounds scary, but the previous owner passed away, RIP, and left no service history behind. The bike cleaned up nicely and is in showroom condition. This is my first Ducati, and I am looking forward to enjoying her for years to come. I've only ridden her home and once through my local canyon. This bike is unreal! The noise, the handling, just wow!
That being said, I will be performing the Desmo valve service, replacing the belts, changing the oil, and flushing the radiator before I put any more miles on her. The bike already has a Bucci clutch and P Moto open cover. The clutch slips when I hit 3/4 throttle in the upper RPM range. I found oil on the pressure plates; they look to have plenty of meat on the packs, but cleaning them off didn’t fix the slip. The clutch doesn't engage until the last 1/4 inch—could this be the issue?
What recommendations can you make for where and what parts to order? Is there anything else I should do while I have the bike open?
I found the previous owner on Facebook and noticed he had a few track bikes and photos of him racing. He was in his 70s and it looks like he really cared for the Ducati.
I’m renting tools for this service, so I’m open to suggestions.
Thank you in advance!
Bike is a 2007 1098s with 14,120 miles. Mostly sat for the last 36 weeks. Started every week by the friend who was selling it for the family.
Looks to have every upgrade possible, but is my first Ducati and not sure was is or isn't standard on this beauty!
I took off the sticker kit and gave her a nice detail.
