I toyed with this decision for awhile, but ultimately, despite being the best looing bike out there, I have sold the V2 and bought an Aprilia RSV4 RR.

Still a little sad to see it go out the door, and the guy that bought it got a bargain and loves it.

I battled the thoughts of selling it for a couple of months, but the bike has never really grown on me, and I could not stand having it around any longer.

Anyone else have regrets on their V2?

Curious what you didn’t like about the V2? I had a 2016 RSVR RF and loved it but dealer support makes Ducati look like BMW in comparison

Here we go again yeah well I totally get it the support for Aprilia in the states is small comparison to others. The Ducati brand and support here is no better even though there are more shops. Problem you have is the dealership 80% of the time can't even figure the problem and the techs are not qualified to even touch these bikes.

The Techs don’t get factory training?

Oddo, I get it, it's taken awhile for my V2 to grow on me. Perhaps part of the reason is that I've had two RSV4 Factory versions, loved them both, and am unfairly comparing them to the V2. Also, the stock exhaust note (or lack thereof) is an issue for me because most times the bike sounds like a sewing machine, two of the exhaust mounting brackets broke on mine a couple of months after purchasing it new and it just runs pretty HOT.

That said, overall, the V2 is a great bike because of things like its' torque, handling and looks. Plus, because it likes to stretch its' legs, I've noticed that I do enjoy it much more when I'm riding on twisty roads with higher speed limits and smoother surfaces. I took it out for such a spin today and, although it's not a RSV4, it reminded me of how much I do like the bike.

Just didnt really gel with the bike ever. Support for Ducati and Aprilia is non-existant here, but thats ok.

I had the Akrapovich on mine, and the V2 sounded amazing. More about the overall smoothness, and rider feel. The V2 and I never gelled, the RSV4RR is like an old fitted glove. Just a personal thing, rather than a "this bike sux" type of thing.

Hey Hiz V2. I agree with all this ha!

I also have a broken rear exhaust mount. What a cringe moment. What did you do to remedy/fix yours? I have a workaround but it’s not great. Did you weld the mounts back on?

By the way, I re-geared mine and it’s really come to life. The gearing was way too long for tighter canyon runs. I did minus 1 tooth front and plus 2 on rear. Love it!
Cheers.

Discoduc,

Sorry to hear about your exhaust mount and am curious about your workaround. I haven't fixed mine yet because Ducati only offered to send it out for repair to a 3rd party welding shop that's never performed this work on a motorcycle - uh, no thanks. I'm still battling w/Ducati to get them to provide a much better warranty repair. Find it a shame that they won't stand behind their product in this situation, but guess I shouldn't be surprised.

Hmm, I hadn't even thought of changing the gearing on the V2. Yours must be a wheelie machine now!

I just used a large hose clamp and ran it over the rear engine casing and through the connector on the exhaust. Didn’t over tighten since I don’t want to damage the motor casing. It’s just a temp measure. Gonna get it welded. It’s a shame indeed that the mounts are weak. I broke mine installing an SBK slip on. The hardware was 5mm off and overstressed the mount when tightening. Grrrr.
Re the gearing. Still seems plenty long enough. Not too crazy at all. Just a much more useable 2nd gear. Highly recommend. Easy install. Better performance. happy days.

Unfortunately, the two front mounts on the exhaust broke on mine, so I don't think I'll be able to do any workarounds.

Ouch. How’d they break? Aftermarket stuff or just failure? If Ducati recommends a welder do they pay? Is it warranted?

Your dealership should send a new part and warrantee it all the way if it’s OEM. It’s part of the emission system and is tightly controlled. If you run into any roadblocks, I’d let the dealership know that you’ll be contacting the CA EPA. And if they don’t do anything, contact the EPA and let them know of how Ducat is trying to bodge your exhaust system.

I am really debating about selling my BMW S1000R. The new Aprilia Tuono Factory is on top of my bike choices. But the only thing holding me back is that there are no dealers around me. Back around 2019 there were 3 dealers here on Long Island, 1 in Manhattan, and 1 in Brooklyn. By 2020 all 5 dealerships stopped selling Aprilias. The 3 long island dealers also stopped selling Vespa's and Piaggios. The only dealers who kept Vespa and Piaggio were Brooklyn-Manhattan Vespa. The Brooklyn dealership is one of the largest so they kept the scooters because they are dead center in a huge yuppy/hipster area so their sales are very high. And the Manhattan dealership is also in an area where people dont have cars. They dont want motorcycles. Instead they buy scooters

Maybe a 2022 S1000R? Have one and love it and great dealer support. I like the Aprilia’s as well but the lack of dealer support is a killer for me. How is Ducati where you are? Too bad they are not making a V2 Streetfighter (yet?) Really don’t need 200hp on an unfaired bike (or even faired….) on the street

There are 2 or 3 Ducati dealerships here on long island. And for the most part dealer support is really good.
