I'll see if I can have them adjust the sag before I leave but can't I play with the dash settings to soften it up.
Don't see IF.....make them do it....but.....beware of a rookie with a tape measure
-- you can do it at home yourself, but you'll need an extra set of hands to measure (while you hold bike steady against the wall with one hand while you're sitting on it) ---- preferably, you have a tech in the shop that knows what to do, and gets it right...it is not rocket science, but staying focused like when mounting tires in the correct direction on the rim, is required
-- Dave Moss is a suspension guy with the whole sag story explained perfectly on youtube
Then after that, you can reduce/increase your rebound/compression settings for "Going to NYC, or Heading North"
Keep in mind that as you soften or firm up the settings -- as you approach fully opened (highest numbers) or fully closed (lowest numbers) the difference in effect from 9 to 8 is more dramatic than from 15 to 14 ---- going from 6 to 5 way more so
Think of the adjustments like thinking about a fully opened fire hose (setting # 15)...going 1 click down (to 14) wouldn't reduce the water too much, but as you get into the single digits the difference of each click on the nozzle will make a huge difference (comparatively) -- in your forks you're pushing oil thru the end of that hose
