Again, this proves my point to the beyond reproach...Do some research on it, what became Rossi's bike was built from Ex-Honda riders input to yamaha. Just like Ducati came out with a kick ass bike for 2007, yamaha did the same in 2004, so a mute point to compare an old machine to a new machine.
But of course it was all Rossi skill that won the title that year, nothing to do with the bike.

You can't win jack without the right ride. Racing is 30% machine, 30% blind luck, 30% combination of team/rider/logistics/budget.

If MM was finishing races, he'd still be in the hunt like NH was years ago. Sometimes 4th or 5th ain't so bad, when you know you can win later. Either MM knows he stands no chance at competing for the championship this year, so he is betting it all on a blaze of glory suicidal move and a win. Or maybe Moto GP is egging him on to put on a "show" if he's not competitive. I don't know. But the bias was on his side a year ago. It's OK to be excited about someone else winning.

I think the argument about quality of competition is bogus. Could The Babe still kill it against today's pitchers? Would Jordan be as good against today's player? What about (add your sport here.) the point is athletes improve over time. Everyone stands on everyone else's shoulders.

To that point, Rosi is still winning. MM is almost a god and JLo is a machine. The announcers job is to make people excited and convey information and they are subject to hyperbole like others have mentioned.

its called a typo. if i said 9 a number of times then i said 2 of those are from lower ranks that would be 7 . did you run to your mommy and say the bad guy on the forum said my hero only had 6 titles.

seems like you forget how much more money yamaha gave them. the bike was very close and not nearly as bad as people said. seem to forget he had the highest paid team and the most to work with.

agreed and again not what this post was about.

the post stated why do they say 9 time world champ EVERY time about rossi when they say 2 time champ for jlo (he has 4) and 2 time for MM (he has 4 also)
ps. jordan would still be the top player in the league today . same with kobe because physically they are still basically the same as todays players. they had killer inistinct and superior drive. bron bron shouldnt be mentioned in the same breath as those 2 as he isnt close

Yes he is, and who did he take under his wing and coach when he moved up from 250 to 500gp? And remain a fan and supporter even after he moved over to the enemy. They are both very similar, ruthless cold blooded killers on the track. An almost in human single mindedness devoted to winning. The big difference is Valle would hang out with the fellas and race for awhile, and think of different ways to entertain the fans, where Mick would just clear off and let everyone else worry about second place, he made everyone else look so bad he was stinking up the show. They both did it for 5 strait seasons, Mick all for Honda on the 500nsr the best bike on the grid BAR NONE. Valle did it on a 500nsr first year, then won the next 4 moto gp titles with the Honda V5, and the then Under Dog Yamaha. Much to Honda's dismay because Valle ended Honda's dominance.
Rossi has seen them all come and go, raced the best riders the world has to offer for 20 fricken years and he is still here and beating the youngsters. Anyone that is a true fan of Motorcycle Gran Prix racing, and not a Rossi fan just has no understanding of the history or nature of the sport.
