I'm in the same boat (no pun intended) - went to go for a ride this AM and clicky-clicky-click

Any word? I brought mine into the dealer and the dicks didn't even look at it. It's a long weekend so I'm sol till at least Tuesday :(

Um I use one of these without any issues whatsoever and it doesn't cost an arm and a leg. URL embedded in photo...

I'll get you photos of how I have it wired in.

Thanks - just picked one up at AutoZone.. just to see if my charger was hosed or not.

Nope.. get the power light on the charger but no charging light at all

:(:(

Still dead.. pondering next steps..

at least I have my wife's 848 i can ride :)

Dead battery and/or stator.

So it looks like my battery charger-lead is broken. I popped off the fuse cover and just touched the charger connectors to the battery directly and it started charging

now i've popped off the battery cover and clipped on the charger, charging light is on

I will test in an hour.

only after the new charger didn't light up i was suspicious

I also wanted to check the battery connections since she was apart last week getting the full Termi put on

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand now the system comes up but when i press start i get UNKNOWN DEVICE

ugggggggg...

Lol, wtf did you do? And yes you can, plug in the upmap device unload it and reload it.

I just kept taking pieces off until the dash would come up! Strange, after i re-filled the headlight fluid things really started cooking.

thank you! finally something I can work with. Im going to check to battery power when I get home. I hope its something quick fix.

my buddy has an 1198s and went through 3 batteries in a year. it was constantly draining power and they couldnt figure out why. its finally fixed there was a connection problem so the battery wouldnt hold the charge when they thought it would. hope this helps

Lol, now take an exhaust sample!

reloaded the upmap.. battery was at 11.4v.. got it started.. went for a 30 mile ride.. battery at 12.4v now

I guess that is why the ducati owners manual states to use the DP charger which costs about 40% more than the battery tender equivalent, connected through the trunk accessory connector. Using anything else may cause problems, in this case the SAE quick disconnect cable messed up, an easy fix. We'll the good charges sense a defect in the battery circuit, so if the charger shows battery fault, then would definitely check the battery connections first. Glad it worked out.

Yeah no that's called a profit margin, drink your kool-aid.
