Panigale heat

I don't know about this ZircoTec stuff but I did just purchase some Thermo-Tec liner. I plan to use it on the bottom of the seat and line the fairing around the front header. It was 18 bucks for a 12" X 24 on Amazon. It's supposed to be good to 2000 degrees of radiate heat. Should be here tomorrow and installed this weekend.

Ok... not to harp on about the heat issue... But looking for some relief here.. so... I see AR make a solid carbon rear shock cover and Carbonvani make a carbon header cover... has anyone used either or both of these products and found they make any difference to heat transfer to the rider

I don't believe the Carbonvani items are shipping yet? There are a few members here that have ordered several of their items, but none that I know of have received them.

As to the heat i'm a member of the group that says "no biggie deal with it". However yesterday I made the mistake of leaving my business security badge attached to my front pocket while commuting home from work. After an hours ride when I got home I was surprised to see that it had melted LOL Pics to come :)

I'm not a fan of wrapping. It's a bandaid on a bullet hole for daily driven applications. Curious to hear more about jet hot reviews or other ceramic coatings.

The thermo tec interests me now. May have to do a bit of research on that...

I have:
-Applied Gold Foil to the bottom of the stock seat
-insulated the cavity under the seat with Silicone pot holders. Yes, thick silicone pot holdrers.
-Applied Gold Foil to the underside of the Termi Carbon Header Heat-shield.
- Jet-Hot coated entire Termignoni Full Exhaust System.

Result: In hot temps and stopped at a couple of stop lights the back of my upper leg/inner thigh still gets very hot for a short period of time. After an hour ride I noticed a large heat rash on both inner/back thighs. I'm sure the hot outside temps contributed to the lack of cooling while riding too.

Next experiement: Iron-on or securely attach a Radiant Heat Cloth to the inner thigh/back of the leg of my jeans. I have samples of Temptrol cloth given to me by the manufacturer.

I took my Termi headers and Y pipe to Zircotec before my bike even arrived and had their ceramic coating done on them. My bike is warm but its not that hot, you can touch the pipes 5mins after shutting off the engine. I'd say it has helped a lot although I never rode my bike without it only a demo bike briefly.

My plan tho I'll probably never do it. Is to take the metal exhaust pipe shroud, have it jet hot coated in black, then apply the reflective foil to the inside, my thought is that might help the heat and yet still allow it to dissipate. My thought on the exhaust wrap in road application, it's holding the heat in, and wonder if over sustained cycling this might cause a problem. I did have header wrap on my 996 but took it off as I couldn't see that it made a whole lot of difference and looks pretty ratty after a few thousan miles all weather riding.

Beat the heat(and hard seat)

I tried riding with cycling pants under my jeans( the ones with padding in the crotch) to make the seat less plank like. Anyhow, it helped quite a bit and seemed to handle the heat too. I'd get the comfort seat but I'm already on my toes with both legs on the ground so I figured the extra height would be a problem. Anyhow, hope it can be helpful to others. :)

I don't know about you guys, but my heat issue isn't from the header, it is from the subframe. We need someone to come up with a carbon subframe cover that will shield much of the heat from direct contact with the thighs!

I bought and installed the ZircoTec stuff. Could not tell much of a diference. Also disconnected the butterfly, which IMO dropped about 5 degrees on the engine while going slow (between 45 and 65MPH). I am getting the heat deflector ceramic coated today and I will wrap the back header and see how it goes.

Question: Would it hurt the engine if I wrap only the rear header?

Your bike will most likely run like .... as exaust gases in the rear header will be traveling faster then the other header.

I thought the exhaust butterfly (flapper valve?) was for noise at low rpms?

Wouldn't think that'd make a diff. on running, or perhaps we're talking about two different things?

So did i, but below 5000 RPM (low speed) the butterfly closes to lower noise level, limiting the amount of hot air leaving the exhaust, therefore, getting hotter.

My 2 cents here. I removed the heat shield and wrapped the rear pipe in heat wrap and I didn't replace the heat shield. It is hot enough to burn my right leg in about 10 mins. So I will remove the wrap and replace the heat shield. I agree that the rear pipe being hotter cause the wrap holds in the heat will cause flow problems.
Putting some kind of reflective tape or something under the original shield is the answer for now.
