They really shine on the consecutive alternating turns on Foothills and Clingmans Dome RD. The lighter weight smooths out the less than stellar pavement like bridge abutment expansion joints mid-corner. Contrary to what other complain about instability due to the lack of gyroscopic forces is a velocity square thing with the tire being the bulk of the mass.
The added width lets you come in hotter and go a little deeper without dragging your pinky toes. The profile on the 190 is a little flatter so a few more mm of clearance. I would say it puts more weight up front but level and straight are not adjectives for the roads here.
Well worth the money. It really transforms the bike.
It was about 57 degrees in the valley but sunny, and so I shot up the mountains to check things out. Taking in a waterfall on the way up:
Looking back down the stream:
At the top (about 6,000 feet), it was 50 degrees in the sun but 45 degrees on the northern, shady parts. A cool wind but lots of sun. I saw a few other bikes out but it was mostly leaf lookers.
6,649 miles over 233 days. I’d like to hit 7,000 this season before they put salt down. The next 4 days are supposed to be nice. I’m also trying to squish the last few miles out of my tires.
A beautiful ride this afternoon after tanking up with some stabilized fuel. It will need more and another run to get the concentration percentage correct.
Still need to do an oil change to make it an official end to the riding season. I'm at 11,500 or so the stars should align for the desmo service next spring.
To ween myself, I played on the dragon last night semi cager style. The pavement sucks so bad. I miss driving at night but there where 6 deer in the road on foothills.
