I did some searching but looking to see for those of you that have moved to the new sizes.

How is the change working? How is the feel (better\worse)?

I still have the older SC1 front with some life left and one SC1 (old) new rear. I have a set of the new sizes and in the past was told once you use them you won't want to go back. Is that true?

Each to their own, but I can't stand the new front (125).

I tried the new rear at the last two trackdays, quite liked it, and it lasted more than one session! Although, it was an unusual spec. It was SC1 compound, but SC3 construction. The SC3 construction is stiffer, which helps limit tyre deformation, and helps reduce tyre overheating.

If you don't like the new 125, the Dunlop 120 is superb. I used it with the new Pirelli rear, fantastic 8D

Since I dont consider myself good enough to talk about my feelings on those tire sizes, I read a lot about them from racers who reviewed them and decided to just use them as well.
In the rear I even use mostly the SC3 compound which mostly looked awesome in terms of wear.

what front did you run the 200 65 rear with a 120? a bit like adding 5mm to the rear ride height.....

the Pirelli guy is saying the new sc3 is the way to go... don't think of it as soft medium hard 1,2,3.... it is a different construction and combination...

I ran it with both, and I spend my life measuring ride height and adjusting to find handling joy :D

I wasn't running the new SC3. It's a prototype tyre, Pirelli use it at tracks like Thruxton for the Superbikes. Obviously they made a few too many...

My understanding is that you SHOULD run the 125 in front if you run the 200/65 in the rear to keep your geometry right.

Thanks, Rick I think I will give them a try at least. I know the older version is no longer available I just didn't want to waste a new rear but I can sell it to someone.

Sammy - You can always adjust the geometry. They also say never use 2 different tire brands at the same time (Rick is in big trouble with the tire\tyre police).

Funny, I run SC2 front and Dunlop Med slick in rear. Stiffer rear construction of the Dunlop feels like less flex and deformation. Med compound lasts 2 full track days too
Love the feel of the SC2 front though, too scared to try the Dunlop soft!!

I've run the Pirelli SC1 slick front for probably four or five years, and have been using the Bridgestone V02 soft rear with it. Excellent combination. It's only been unavailability of Bridgestone tyres, and the 125 Pirelli has sent me searching for new rubber!

Give the 120 Dunlop a try, it's extremely good. The MS1 front is actually a road racing tyre and works over a broader spectrum of temps than the other compounds/constructions.

I liked the Metzeler Racetec RR K1 200/60 too.

Every time fe used Dunlop I’ve found the front wanders under heavy braking..

Hey Andy, which compound did you try? I've only tried the current MS1, and years ago the KR106 3. Both felt very similar to the Pirelli front, for me. Although, the current MS1 I'm loving. Gives the confidence of a stiff carcass, but you can feel it too.

60 on the left 65 on the right...

in fairness I was put off dunlop from years ago so I guess it may not be relevant now.... but I just don't go down the route of dunlop based on that..

Big my friend, BIG...

Lol

just looked at the dunlop rear listings..MS2 MS3..... 200 70....... how big is that!!!!!

It’s my understanding that it’s not uncommon for different size tires from different manufacturers to measure similarly, or for the same size tires from different manufacturers to measure differently. So that 200/70 Dunlop might be the same size as the 200/65 Pirelli.
