I wonder with those two-ring pistons if dealers will be telling owners they need to pull the tank and clean the oil out of the airbox after every few track sessions/hard ride...as with the R....

I have the SL two ring pistons in my 1199 and no oil in the airbox. So this is something you need to do after ever track day? Also, isn't that what the breather hose is for? Draining the oil in the airbox back into the engine?

Are SL pistons different than the 2-rings in the '15 R? I know before they replaced the pistons, rings and sleeves I had a ton of blow-by into the airbox. Others have experienced the same thing with DNA warranting it. Mine ended up all over the airbox...and the engine...and rear tire. (Dyno break in). After warranty work...was ok.

Was told to keep oil level below bottom line...and pull tank at end of each few sessions. Not sure low oil level is a good idea tho-

Had a 15R and got a 16R now. Both lived on the track most of the summer (12-15 trackdays each), with work commuting in between.
Oil level kept at about 3/4 between the marks. Neither needed more than a few hundred
ml of oil in 5000km.
No blow by and no oil in airbox problems.

Would think that running oil low deliberately is asking for trouble as its not exactly a big sump charge in the first place.

Im first,SL 1299 showing in full now. I think its NOT as good looking as the old one.

just watched the new SL video and pics... i gotta tell you. i need to sell all my organs for this bike. this .... is the bike ..... jesus good lord.

I do know that if the pistons and rings are not sized properly, that may happen. I had blow by when we were rebuilding the engine, but that was on my base rings and pistons with over 7000 miles of track time (track days, racing)....

I just saw the picture posted above.

Am currently getting estimates on my kidney. Do you want me to pm you the going rate when I find out?

So that earlier leaked photo dressed as a standard 1299 with the undertail akras was in fact the new SL.

Definitely is a looker for sure. Then again, it's a Ducati. That's to be expected. If I had $80k layin around, sure....why not?

That patch of white sure is odd. I hope this is a photoshop edit and not the final version.

Anyone know what that black band is on the mid-pipe?

this is the final version and i saw all the pics and vid from 1408 site and this thing is beauty.

HOLY F**K
That is just stupid gorgeous and so so desirable.
Ducati just knocked it out of da park!
My top three dream bikes are now NCR M16, 1299 SL, and 888 RRR (oh, and the 996 that I currently own)

Cool exhaust. Other than that...??? And the white on the rear of the tank is just odd....

Damn I wanted to like it more. I'd prefer just a shorty version of that exhaust imo and the white on tank is odd. Overall it's still sick but need to noodle on it before making a decision.
