Questions to those who wear Full Leathers on Street

Mine came in yesterday. Yep, it's kinda cheap looking and the zippers definitely aren't YKK, but it should hold up for what I am using it for. I'll report back once I ride with it a couple of times. It will definitely be easier for holding wallet, keys, phone, etc. since you can actually stop and get to those items without having to remove a backpack. I don't have a lot of confidence in the non-fastex buckles, but there are two straps (one waist and one leg) so I doubt it will go anywhere.

If anyone accuses you of wearing a purse/fanny pack, just say "it's European" -worked for Jerry!

It won't go over well in the eyes of the general public. When I took it out of the package my wife asked if it was a backpack for the dog. I started putting it on whilst explaining what it was and then she said "that thing looks dumb".

*sigh*

I was thinkling it would be good for having my full size Nikon and lens to be at the ready". But now that I have this nifty tank bag, I don't have to explain the leg thing. I just think it would look funny walking around when you stop too...

It actually does look a bit like a DSLR case since it is triangular in shape. I don't think I'll trust the biner and the external key clips, but the inside pockets should work ok. I'll get it out this weekend and see if I get laughed at.

I'm trying to think what the hell you will put in it. Other than ptography equipment, what do you need to carry around in that thing? What is worh the emabassment that you need to haul around? Your make-up kit? Spare nylons? :D

Dunno.. Wallet, keys, hat, phone? Maybe a camera or a book? Some M&Ms?

We ordered it the same day and I haven't received mine yet! :(

can i fit my dog in it?

If you have a pocket dog like Giggy you can.

bigger pocket required:

You'll need the "magnum" version of the Chinese drop leg pack for that bruiser. :)

WARNING: We here in China cannot guarantee that your dog won't fall out of the bottom, your bike won't tip over or your ability to walk won't be impaired while using the Magnum version of our drop leg dog pack.

ok, so I had my bag out for a good long ride last weekend (middleburg, the plains road, winchester, etc.). The upside - it works great for those few small items you need to carry and makes getting gas, etc. way easier than a backpack since you don't need to remove anything to get to your wallet, etc. It stays put at highway speeds and you can't tell it is there when you are on the bike. The downsides - I was right about the zippers. They are cheap and a little bit hard to work so you have to be careful with it when opening and closing. I'm used to burly zippers and these are kinda flimsy so I open and close it gingerly since I don't know how well it would survive a zipper jam if I catch the inside material. The external biner and key ring holder thing are not confidence inspiring so I don't use those. I got some compliments from other riders that like the idea of a fanny pack when riding, but feel like tools walking around with one. They said this one looks vaguely tactical so the thoughts of the others was that it was a step up from a fanny pack. Now that I have tested it and it works for me, I would pay more (2-3 times as much) for a really well constructed one. If anybody knows where you can get a "good" one let me know. I would really like something in ballistic nylon or burlier cordura with waterproof zippers or at least mil grade YKKs. That being said, I am keeping it and will use it regularly until I find the same thing in a bit higher quality.

no picture of yourself? :D

used to, too. but if you crash and can't get up and your phone is 50 yards away from you... with a broken arm, collarbone and legs you can still make a phone call, if you get it out of your pocket.

The opposite arguement is that you might fall onto your cell phone, break a few ribs and your phone, and be in pain without the possibility of crawling 50 yards to your cell phone.

Seen it with both phones and a radar detector.
