new recall, chain tensioner this time
should be straight forward, your dealer need to tighten it up to spec

so, I guess your bike does not come full spec when leaving factory

more info on it

Ducati has issued another recall for the 2018-2019 Ducati Panigale V4"”the second one in only a week. One again, all variations of the model are target: V4, V4 S, and V4 SP. This time, Ducati is investigating the timing chain tensioner that could losen up and cause an oil leak through the adjustment bolt, onto the rear tire. We all know what oil does and why oil on a tire isn't exactly the ideal scenario. This might not only damage the vehicle, but it also increases the risks of the tire losing traction. A rogue rearwheel is a recipe for disaster. Thankfully, the fix is rather straightforward: the dealers will only need to tighten the tensioners to spec.

what bright genius would place a bolt in that location, so when it leaks it spills on the rear tire. This location better not be that as simple as I described it, lol

Don't try to figure it out, your head will explode. The list of WTF were they thinking can be heard echoing through every shop or garage that has had to tear into one of of the 99s and the v4 isn't going to be any better. Quite simple much like the aerospace industry its a complete separation of psychological cohesiveness. You have guys with PhDs designing things and guys with GEDs working on them. Ain't pretty.

I really enjoy your sense of humor my friend.. You definitely make this forum a lot more fun ED!!!!!

LOL thanks man. Its December, Im in a festive mood and well, as most people here know, that somewhat of a ......., well, not somewhat, more of a complete ........ I mean no harm, its just fun to get people to look at things through the black and white Kaleidoscope instead of the one with the pretty colors every once in a while. I do respect everyones individuality and opinions. Even though they are sadly inaccurate bahahahaha. Except for RD16 that guy is straight up ready for the coat with the long sleeves that tie in the back. He's a crazy man.

I've had all R1 models since the beginning and I only got ONE recall during 20 years. Now having a Ducati V4 in march next year, they already end up with 5 recalls.
Can someone tell me what the other recalls were?
Is there a way to check during the delivery that the other recalls are executed?
Are the repairs under full warranty, free of charge (spare parts and working hours)?

Thanks a lot!

1) wiring of side stand
2) fuel cap
3) fuel tank internal breathing system valve plug
4) oil cooler leak
5) timing chain tensioner

recalls are always free of charge, even after warranty

for some perspective

the 1098 had the exact same break point on the radiator as the current oil cooler .
The bike would crack in the exact same way in nearly the exact same place IIRC except instead of a oil cooler it was a radiator.

it was of course covered under warranty - the difference was that Ducati refused to do a recall which meant if the bike was out of warranty they would refuse to replace the radiator . and my guess is most of those radiators eventually cracked.

so be glad you got your recall

There's also #6 for the rear wheel speed sensor wiring.

And I believe there were two ECU/Software updates. One of those enabled cylinder deactivation.

What are the details on #6 - rear wheel speed sensor wiring? Is that an official recall on 2018 V4?

Not sure if it's official recall, but there's definitely a technical bulletin about it. My bike was experiencing wheel speed sensor issues, and official solution (via tech bulletin) was to install new wiring "holders?" and re-route some wires to prevent interference. Had to wait for special parts.

Can anybody share a pic of what bolt is actually in discussion?

The chain tensioner bolts are relatively easy to access, so if all the dealer is required to do is check torque them, then it should be a fairly quick job. Contrary to what has been said on here, the rear bolt is not positioned near the rear wheel. One bolt is behind the ABS unit on the front cylinder head, the other is next to the thermostat housing on the rear cylinder head. See the image below of the rear bolt.

Yes. Unfortunately it is on an encrypted pendrive so cannot be copied. You can print out pages individually but as you can imagine that will take hours to do. If you are after specific info let me know....Topo
