Thats a pretty good read..

"Your brain ignores input from most of your senses, and this adrenal euphoria begins."

What people don't realize, when they read an article like this, is that this is actually a very easy to ride motorcycle. I think it's much safer as a streetbike than my 999.

Absolutely the most ........ article about the Pani yet.

If you prefer only cafe racers, or a DR350s, yes, this article is relevant.

It's like a Prius aficionado reviewing a super car that just got done with 2000hp in upgrades from Hennessy or Lingenfelter or whatever. Don't spill your latte, Brah.

To add some contrast to that comment, probably fair enough to say to the guys who are learning on CBR 125s and thinking "when I get my full license, I'm going to the Duc dealer."

I don't know, sure it's a bit sensationalistic. But not too far off.

At least he tells us how the bike made him FEEL. Peter Egan was always best for those type of articles at Road&Track. Bike, and a few other Brit magazines give great reviews more about the way the machine feels and impresses them.

Most American reviews and magazines are dry as heck. Just numbers and new tech blah blah blah. F that, tell us what it's like!

The Panigale's, any of them, have got to be some of the best machines with license plates ever made. Any sport bike that ups my newb game this much is a pretty big deal.

Ducati is producing some very civilized bikes these days. In a sense, they've lost a bit of edginess, and that wonderful dry clutch rattle is gone....but then so is left hand clutch cramp, misery beyond words in stop and go traffic, and my old Ducati ST4 is the only bike I've had which truly tried to kill me - big highside, threw me up and onto the highway, while the bike dove for soft grass and came out far less injured than I did (ATGATT reduced the number of broken bones and I had zero road rash).

The Panigale requires one to be on top of things, to be mentally proactive - it is by no means ever a passive riding experience. This, btw, is where BMW excels. Say you just didn't feel like riding hard and just wanted to cruise home at the speed limit. The S1000RR simply complies, in comfort no less.

This is, of course, to Ducatisti, the reason why we ride these bikes.

What makes modern Ducatis hardly "vicious" is if you're mentally off in la-la-land for a moment, it no longer punishes you. It might jerk or lurch in displeasure that you're not giving her your utmost attention, but that's really about it.

The 1199R makes me feel alive, I wouldn't ever use it as a dual purpose transport fun bike, it's full on fun only for me I love mine, don't really care what these mostly young squid journalist say, if it were a perfect suberbike I'd probably find it bland and boring.
Just hope Ducati can keep this raw edginess in future SB models

Ducati surely has up their game! look at the Japanese competition, yes there's the new R1 and H2, but non of them are as refined as the Panigale!

ultimately, in mainstream media, journalistic hyperbole with Ducati, being the one generally recognizable "exotic" bike brand, makes for good reads for the non-motorcycling public.

Since when did the bike blip the throttle on an up shift from 1st to second? Did this guy actually ride it?
