Rossi Haters

Mark,
Hate to break it to you, but Jim Brown is the best ever running back. He still owns the one record for running backs that matters. The average yards per carry at 5.0. No one else is even close to that. The next guy is Barry Sanders I believe at like 4.7. Case closed on that one. Sorry to derail the thread, but I had to clear that up.

cant deny his accomplishments right place right time he still won the races. will he be loved by fans of course. was he the best thing ever for moto gp very very possible.

does that make him the best ever i say no. he won yes and you cant take that away but the talent now is far superior than in 2000s. kind of like saying jim brown was the best ever. he was the best during his time. he was as big as the lineman were. now he would be a nobody.

here is from a recent article about rossi and how he THOUGHT he was as good as marquez

Rossi starts in optimistic mood at Mugello, but his optimism was somewhat tempered after he watched the video from Le Mans. After the race in France, Rossi had felt he was close to being able to give Marquez a run for his money. After he had watched the race on video, that optimism had faded, Rossi joked. He had thought Marquez had come back from sixth or so. He had not been aware that the Repsol Honda man had been way down in 11th at one point, and had lost a huge amount of ground in just a couple of corners.

the whole article very well written

Ago, look at the numbers, also the fact that he climbed on a TZ750 at Daytona and beat the best. My favorite will always be Mike the Bike.
Now of course Ago was long before my time and I'm no motorcycling history buff, but wasn't Ago on vastly superior machinery to pretty much everyone? Riding with full factory support against a lot of guys who actually built their own bikes and would work on them themselves and pay their own way? Or is this just a misconception?

One of the things that makes Rossi stand out for me, is that he left Honda when they were by far the best bike, went to Yamaha who had been pretty much uncompetitive for many years, and won. No one in modern day racing at least has done that. Of course it didn't work out so good when he tried that second time round at Ducati....

Just like every other champion since the beginning he raced against the best in the world at the time. And as it should be the best, riders/racers get the best equipment, Rossi is right there with Ago as a RACER. Being a great rider doesn't automaticly make a racer. A perfect example is Stoner brilliant rider, while he was around he was my favorite to watch.
He was able to do things on a bike that defy physics and logic, he won by checking out and racing the track and clock, under pressure he would crack, like Rossi at Laguna for example. The KID is unbeatable right now because he's as gifted as Stoner with his bike handling skills, and is a very smart, fearless and tenacious racer who loves mixing it up in a crowd, just like Rossi.

L while i may or may not agree with Jim brown being the best running back ever i will say he was the best of his time and maybe a generation after. However Jim was a beast of a man when the d line weighed less than him. in todays game i dont think jim would be the best as he would not be so physically dominating.

FWIW Jim brown may be one of the best athletes ever. he lettered in like 5 sports. all i am saying is its hard to compare errors say like mikey mantle vs barry bonds the game is so different but you can compare how dominating said individual compared to his competition.

another great thing you said indirectly is that jim and barry are the best. again not arguing your point but you left out emmit smith. my point is emmit had the best line best teamates and won all that jewlery. just like rossi. so if emmit isnt the best cant i make the same argument about rossi?

I think for Rossi being at the age he is he is doing well. Top 5 every race is nothing to sneeze at. He still enjoys it and is giving Mark Marquez at least some kind of race. We all know MM is a freak of nature on the Honda.

Rossi is just fun to watch though. I have a feeling once the bike gets a little better you will see the competition closer at the top. Not this year but maybe next if they can refine the M1 a bit more. I don't think the Honda can get any better. They are nailing it.

while he is top 5 basically every race shouldn't he be no less then 4 every time. lets be serious there are only 4 people that can really place top 4. 2 hondas 2 yamahas if they do less than top 4 something is seriously wrong a la JLO. there isn't a bike out there or rider out there not factory that should be top 4 . so coming in 4th is coming in last really

Sorry but your defense doesn't hold up well. He was 2ed in the championship race and now 3ed only led by all Honda.

I'm sorry if I'm repeating because I just skimmed through five pages.

My 2 cents are that Rossi is one of the modern greats and it is good to see him hitting his form again after all the retirement talk last year. Marquez is the man to beat right now but his riding style reflects a fearless approach to racing or riding like a 20 year old and I question the longevity of that. We all know that crashes are inevitable in racing and no one wants to see serious injuries but if something happens to Marquez, that could really shake his confidence and that could be the end of it. I'm starting to feel bad for Pedrosa because he just can't seem to put it all together and he has been considered a contender since Hayden won the title. I don't feel too bad for him though because he has no personality whatsoever. Now that we have seen Pedrosa and Marquez re-sign for HRC it is no surprise that the Repsol money is staying with two spanish riders. Lorenzo is starting to look washed up and Rossi's new form isn't helping either. He may start looking at drastic measures such as new factories and teams and his time will have passed.

There are some .... hot kids coming out of Moto 2 now, Marquez was the first of them, Lorenzo better ramp up his game, or take up car racing, Pedrosa is a perennial #2 man, he is well paid and as long as he keeps finishing second in the championship I'm sure his position will be secure, as long as he doesn't wreck his team mate.

Jack Miller is the next big thing, I just hope they let him run Moto 2 for two seasons, the only thing that can derail that kid is if they try to bring him along too quick. There is talk of going strait to Moto GP with him, I think that would be a big mistake.

Sorry but your defense doesn't hold up well. He was 2ed in the championship race and now 3ed only led by all Honda.

i said he can do no worse than fourth. you can interchange any of the factory riders put them where ever you want it will always be one of these 4 guys in the top 4:
not in any particular order the factory riders will be top 4 every time
marquez
pedorsa
rossi
jlo

as bad as jlo has been doing he will still finish fourth. so what special thing is rossi doing as i stated nothing he just came in one spot better than last year so he beat jlo big deal.

Didn't MM spend a year waking up with double vision, and not being able to ride? If that didn't shake him up, nothing more will.

I think the Yamaha's are doomed. I4 with countershaft? Won't be long until Ducati and others catch up. Honda will always be a top team.

Rumor has it that Marquez will run both GP and at least one Moto 2 race if he wraps up the GP championship early.

MotoGP Dovizioso: Rossi has hit me? Everything OK
Sunday, August 10, 2014 23:20 Paolo Scalera - MotoGP

Andrea Dovizioso in contact with Valentino Rossi - GPOne.com
If at the start Valentino Rossi has almost had an orgasm race Andrea Dovizioso can be defined as a coitus interruptus . For five laps Dovi was in fact glued to the wheel of Valentino Rossi and at times it even seemed able to overcome it. Then a 'contact' sa bit hard and the tire degradation have rejected it in fourth position until lap 13. From there it was a gradual descent into hell with a 7th place finish at 20 "seconds behind the winner who does not do justice to the beautiful race of Andrew.

" Of the first fifteen laps, overall, I can not complain - it's the story of Forli - the first six were even exciting because n some points I was faster than Vale , although I think at that moment he was not pushing to the maximum, No, but could not overtake him on because if I tried there'd touched, seen, however, that the Yamaha is able to close better curves. We would have touched. contrary: I would be entered into. "

He did him in your place ...

"Yes, I heard a knock on the knee before the left leg, so the pressure is continued on the thigh, until the end that I found myself on his wheel practically on the shoulder. You can say that I kept it on the track, but I do not want polemics: it was a simple touch of the race. With Valentino I have not yet spoken, but they told me that on TV he apologized. "

It 'difficult to understand the sharp drop. With a tough rubber like the one available for the MotoGP would have happened?

The suit of Dovizioso after contact with Rossi - GPOne.com"We can not say why do not we ever tried. Perhaps yes, but in reality the decline of the tires was not sudden and it's all attributed to the fact that to ride the Ducati as I drove here in Indy need much force. corner And I also need to use more of my opponents. Must keep the bike down by force, then take it up with energy being careful not to lose the front. E 'a kind of driving very tiring, which of course can not be taken for all 27 laps . The last twelve in fact have been very difficult. "

As long as there is adherence, however, the GP14 works.

"The problems are always the same: we can not do the same trajectories of others because we are not able to raise the bike quickly. I have to try to straighten them , because I would never be able to turn the bike so quickly taking the trajectory as they do. "

How does especially Marquez.

"Marc is working very strong, he, not the Honda. Guide the RC213V as a Moto2: brake very late, gets hung and when not seem to make the bike turn the skews and the slides and closes the curve. In this way earns a lot " .

What kind of attitude is used to operate a motorcycle as well.

"I do not know really, because the Honda is very stable under braking, but then also runs narrow. Perhaps that attitude is more a matter of leadership."

Andrea Iannone was also a good start , but unfortunately his race lasted just 14 laps.

"Unfortunately, these things happen, with the new engine had also had problems in the past days. We ventured mounting it for the race but it went wrong. Has started to lose power and then it stopped."

Pretty hard to discount or write off Rossi's run today, he beat the best of the best while putting on a clinic on how to get around Misano on a GP bike.

He is a living legend. I think he is getting used to the bike a bit better.. He has definitely been the better yamaha Rider this season
