Rossi Haters

The only mistake Rossi has made lately is that he went to Yamaha instead of Honda. On equal machinery he smacks Marques in the face with his .... on the way by.

Love it or lump it, Rossi is at least equal in talent but has inferior machinery. Call me a liar and show the world what a hater you really are.

The "it" Rossi has is one win on the year. And one win last year. He's got to do a hell of a lot more than that before we start pretending he can take it to Marquez week in and week out.

Mostly this is people trying to create drama out of a season when there isn't any. Rossi hasn't been in contention for a championship for the past 5 seasons. Has Rossi improved? Sure. Is he championship material? Nope.

I think it's just the opposite. MM has a lot more to prove before he can even be mentioned in the same sentence as VR. There is a lot of good riders out there who had a couple of good seasons and win a couple of championships but only to fade away. Sure MM is a great rider right now but let's see how many wins/championships he gets. To measure great athletes you have to consider longevity and the accomplishment during the span. What would of happen if VR stayed with Honda or Yamaha. Could he possibly won or been in contention for another Championship if he didn't ride that POS Ducati? Would MM be where he is if he was riding for Ducati? If I recall the M1 wasn't the same it had different size engine when he returned. There has been a lot of relearning for VR the past few years and at 35 is say he is doing well.

That Ducati he rode really was a piece of ....... probably also messed up his confidence soon after ...

OK, you're a liar. Well, maybe not a liar, but dead wrong. Rossi will never be able to return to Honda. Period. His defection to Yamaha was tantamount to treason. He is not allowed back on a Honda.

Maybe when Rossi was 21 he could regularly compete with Marquez. It's nearly impossible to compare eras - would a 21-year-old Rossi beat a 21-year-old Marquez? Maybe. Maybe not. We'll never know. At least Rossi has the balls to stay around for not one but two generations of fast guys to follow him. That says a lot about his competitive spirit.

But, if we look at the facts this year:

Marquez: 11
Pedrosa: 1
Rossi: 1
Everyone else: 0

MM is the convergence of the best bike going to the best rider. Happens every blue moon and then some.

Next year will bring a rule change and the deck will get shuffled.

Chances are that Vale and Jorge were able to see the future and there was no red at all......

Food for thought, boys.

Rumor in the paddock is that Rossi like the whole .... in the face thing...lol.

Seriously, Rossi is a legend. However as with all legends th game moves on. I think it is awesome that he still can do it for all those years and hasn't lost passion. I mean it's genuinely fun to watch him ride, unlike other riders who have over stayed their careers cough cough, or guys that should be replaced for better talent.

It comes down to potential and at 21 MM has more potential to grow than Rossi.

At 21 MM will have 3 world titles, 1 moto2 and 2 moto GP. He'll have 14 more years to get 7 more. Or he can pull a stoner and retire after a few and say FTW! Either was he is already a legend in the making.

There is a lot of good riders out there who had a couple of good seasons and win a couple of championships but only to fade away.

Really? Name them. Riders who won more than one championship and then faded away. Remember we're talking about MotoGP/500s here, not the sub classes. One championship can be had with the right confluence of rider, bike, and circumstances (see Nicky, KRJR) but two or more? Not hardly. Go through the entire MotoGP era and you have 5 champions: Rossi, Lorenzo, Stoner, Marquez, Hayden. Hayden has one, so he doesn't count. Marquez has one, soon to be two. Lorenzo has two, but he's still racing. Hasn't faded away. Stoner I guess you could say "faded away" by retiring. Go back to the 500s, maybe you could say Freddie Spencer faded away after winning two 500 championships. So if Marquez only wins two championships then he's only as good as Spencer or Stoner, right? And nobody's heard of them.

Saying "it's the bike" is ......... People said the same thing about Rossi when he was on Honda. See Biaggi. Biaggi got a Repsol Honda and couldn't beat Rossi. Biaggi was wrong. So is everyone now saying that the bike is the reason Marquez wins.

You don't win a championship as a rookie and 10 wins in a row without prodigious skill and talent. I love how everyone wants to minimize Marquez's work over this year and elevate Rossi to his better based on one race. Rossi could win the next three races and Marquez could sit out the next 3 races and Rossi still wouldn't be leading the championship.

Rossi was better than Marc... at Misano. Marc has obviously been better than anyone this season. Rossi's win at Misano isn't what elevates Rossi above Marc. Rossi's ENTIRE CAREER is what has him elevated above Marc. Marc's one (going on two) championships doesn't elevate him above Rossi with 9 GP championships!

There's a reason Rossi's one win this year resulted in more celebration throughout the motorcycle world than ALL of Marc's wins combined. Marc has a long way to go before he surpasses Rossi's greatness.

I think the Honda is the currently the best bike and it certainly helps Marc, but it's not the main reason Marc is so successful. Marc has amazing talent and has been able to ride beyond the limit without making many mistakes that he couldn't recover from. How long will he be able to ride like that? Remains to be seen, but he is currently the strongest GP rider without a doubt.

Feisty.....

Only time will tell, but Marquez has been nothing short of amazing this year. Next race he will come out with a vengeance for going down this week.

I agree with you, it has much more to do with him than the bike. No-doubt, but riding the Honda doesn't hurt.

He has all the talent in the world & as long as he doesn't hurt he could re-write the record book. He is the guy to beat each week and will be for the next few years.

I'm pulling for him, as I am a huge fan & it's great for the sport, but he is still hasn't accomplished what VR has.

Can he? I think so... Will he? Remains to be seen, but I hope he comes close as it would be fun to watch.

The fact that VR is still out there competitive each week & to see Jorge back in it is great.

I wish Stoner was still around, as it would be great to have a group of five to eight guys that had a chance to win each week. I love the top four, but it would be fun to make that group bigger...

I think you just named them with the exception on MM. They were all suppose to be the next Rossi. What happened? MM can surpass VR but only time will tell. As for the rest of the names do you really think they will surpass VR accomplishment? There is only one Moto GP Rider that comes to mind that is better than VR and thats Giacomo Agostini.

As for the bike it plays a huge part. Do you think MM would win 11 races on the Ducati? How about on a CRT? So yes the bike has a lot to do with it.

How many races did Rossi win on the Ducati? Take the 2 Ducati years out of Rossi's career and show me when he's been on a bad bike.

Rossi has had the top equipment in the paddock for most of his career. So, if you wanna say that Marquez's success is due to the bike, then so is Rossi's. Rossi has never won on inferior equipment.

If you want to make the equipment argument, then you have to apply it both ways.

If it's the bike, then how come Rossi is tied with Pedrosa on the other Honda? Same bike as Marquez. Maybe the rider does make a difference.

The M1 was garbage when Rossi left Honda for Yamaha. Not only did Rossi win his first race on it, he won the championship. The M1 was certainly not considered the better than the Honda.

Agree that's why we say the bike has a lot to do with it.
I'm not saying that MM doesn't have the skills as Rossi. Their skill are limited to what the bikes can do. But the question is.. can he sustain that level of riding or mental ability for a long period to surpass Rossi? Time will only tell. Stoner had the skill but didn't have the mental ability to sustain it. JLo also had a mental breakdown hopefully he is back. Even Rossi had a mental break down over what happened to SIC. It screwed up his head and he became more cautious but this last race it seemed VR stepped up and if he rides with no fear as he just did I think there will be more wins for VR this year and the next two. MM skills are unquestionable but can he sustain the mental toughness? one bad wreck and the mental ability is out the door? who knows only time will tell but there is one thing I know right now that Rossi has been through it all for a long period and is still competitive at 35 that says a lot.

You saved me saying this....and...oh.......THIS PAST SUNDAY! I think Rossi won on inferior equipment this past Sunday, didn't he?

MM almost lost his eyesight after a Moto2 wreck didn't he? He didn't race for quite a while. But here he is now leading the championship in his second year after winning as a rookie. I don't question his mental toughness.

Who knows what the future will bring. Maybe Marquez will race until he's 35 and break all Rossi's records. Maybe he'll retire at 25 to go dirt track racing. Maybe he'll get hurt next year and never be the same. But to sit here and say that Rossi now has the measure of Marquez based on one race win, that's a bridge too far. Rossi has accomplished an incredible amount. In the past. Which has no bearing on this year.

Marquez has changed the game. In a short time. Make no mistake about it. In the words of Scott Redding:

"They (the factory riders) thought they'd found the limit didn't they? What happened then?"

He answers his own question: "Marc came along and moved it."

Ok Mark; despute this last race and tell me how Rossi is a has been.....

MM crashed whats to dispute. how come i don't hear you every week when rossi is the first second or third loser. 2 race wins in 2 years or 2 race wins in 4 years i should say. something is wrong if you can't come in top 4. look how bad jlo is doing this year and he is still in 4th.
