Running with low oil. Need help.

It's no different to a car; if the low oil warning light comes on then it's dangerously low and either something has gone wrong or the owner is too lazy to check the oil window or read the manual...

The exact same things happened to me. I brought my 1299S in for it's first 1000km service and I had the akrapovic exhaust put on.. I thought damn it's loud and I came back to the dealer the next day to ask if they can put the baffles back in. They said it's cooler to have them out and it will sound like a standard exhaust if I put them back... well 5 months later and 5000km I decided to bring the bike back for an early service. When happened next is they found there's barely any oil in the bike, I was very surprised. After a few faults needing fixing I got my bike back 3 weeks later... So the bike now has oil and doesn't sound as angry it's actually very bearable not making my ears bleed anymore. I've just visited family and the they said the bike is a lot quieter. When I got the bike after 1000km it didn't have enough oil that's why it sounded so loud and angry. The dealer gave it to me that way and I always thought it was just the damn exhaust. I didn't get a low oil light so I had no idea and somewhere in the manual near the back it says to to check the oil.. I was checking where I knew. Ducati should show you when you get the bike .. they should give you a daily check list before you start riding.

This is the sound of my bike before the 5000km early service..

Bikes use oil. Everyone knows that except you obviously. Of course you need to check the oil, and you do not have to read the manual to know that.

Its a machine, its needs maintenance. Have you lubed the chain or checked tyre pressure in the last 5000 km ? I doubt it.

But it is not your fault. Society, the government, the dealer or anyone but yourself is to blame.

Did you get a handbook with your wife/girlfriend/etc.?
Nope.

But you got one with your bike!
Jeeezez!!!!

Even if you didn't read it: Designers were kind enough to give the bike's oil pressure switch a separate LED on the dash board. If engine is off, it's lit. If engine is on and LED is not off, check the oil. IMMEDIATELY!

Generally: Red colours on the dash means "no good".

Anybody else done a oil and filter change on 1199??

Manual says 3.7L I went safe side did 3.2L and its over full on the window haven't cranked it yet.

Its also on the rear/front stand so will be slightly misleading.

Should go down when you crank it over a bit. Even if it's overfull it's not likely to start coming through the seals on a stand, it's only really when you start nailing it around the track that it does that in my experience.

Changing the filter always seems to have oil sitting somewhere that comes down later after using the bike, even after cranking it over. I've had to syringe it out a few times.

Its alarming how so many owners place this much blind faith in the engine oil level being "adequate" and not bother to check it. One day when your engine goes bang and your facing a big $$$ repair bill, you'd have wished you had. It's not difficult people. Any machine requires maintenance. Ignore it at your own peril.
