SBU V4R Superbike Build

Hmmm. It will be interesting to see what their “special parts” kit looks like. As far as what they have on the bench, I’m not seeing anything that hasn’t already been done and in many cases exceeded by quite a few. There are guys already running around with some pretty crazy no expense spared V4RS spec bikes. I guess stay tuned.

Idk about the “starting it at oem spec and making it into full super bike spec”

Seems closer to super bike spec already

Interesting to note that most “builders” seem to have gone underground when it comes to the high end/ races type builds. Not many interested in that stuff anymore I suppose.

SickDuc I would agree. With some slicks, a tune and a few pieces, the bike exceeds most riders capabilities. After that, it’s all bragging rights. The stuff I do personally is nothing more than an absurd hobby as a stock bike easily exceeds my riding ability on the best day.

Haha, right with you on that!

10:1 it’s full bolt on and I haven’t even watched the video yet.
You should watch some of their other videos. They actually get pretty in-depth. Swingarm changes, full electronics tuning from the ground up etc. This is just the intro video for the build series. There will be many more I'm sure.

I must admit, this kind of gets my goat.

If you want a V4RS you contact Ducati, and if you meet the criteria, they'll sell you one.

Everything else is a modded/tuned V4.

And there's nothing wrong with it being a minded V4, with extended swingarm, WSBK/MOTOGP forks, Magnetti Marelli ECU, custom loom etc etc.

But, it's not an RS.

PBM, Goeleven, Oxford, etc receive “kitted” parts and build to suite. All the bikes are different (within sanctioned rules) so I’m not sure there still exists an official off the shelf “RS” (V4) so yes technically, a factory “RS” bike would be an exact build referencing the RS parts catalog however I don’t think anyone is going to argue that a build that deviates from the catalog in an upward departure wouldn’t be considered an RS spec build but yes to be absolutely accurate, the “RS” designator is the Ducati brand race spec designator so you are technically correct.

No, PBM and MotoRapido 100% receive a fully built bike from Ducati. I would assume the same happens with all WSBK teams too, as basically the BSB teams V4RS bikes are WSBK. They modify it, but they receive a V4RS. And that's completely the point.

It looks like these guys are going to do a very thorough upgrade, to meet superbike rules somewhere, and it'll definitely be good to watch. And, I don't think he claimed it would be a V4RS, but I've seen a few guys do it, and presumably they call it an RS because they can't get one. Each to their own.

most engineering minded builders put their creativity into their bikes, no time to get it on social media

I think you are correct the really serious racers and their mechanics don’t have time or reason to post up on forums like this
Also they don’t want to give the competition more information than they need to either.
I am looking forward to watching what these guys do to see if I can pick up a few tips

Hmmm. Interesting I guess I stand corrected. Learn something new every day.

It's a big bone of contention in BSB, as every other team (non Ducati) start with a road bike, and modify to meet the Superbike class. I believe the rules are being met, but it's a grey area, or not in the spirit of the class?
Ten Kate for instance, completely go their own way on development and parts, whereas a lot of teams will follow the manufacturer guidelines on what needs doing, and what parts to fit/modify. The Hobda team is potentially also different, as this year it is backed by HRC and I believe is developed alongside (as in, in the same factory as) the MotoGP bikes, but I don't think they supply any privateer teams.

Like to see how this comes together.

Rotobox Bullet wheels will be here in a week. This baby rocks. I got a ton in parts on it and he's a boyyyyy.
