Well I have an 1199S on order, but must admit after having read some of the new owner reports on here this past week or so, I might be having second thoughts about buying one. So the headshake/slight weave that I have heard about is a characteristic of the 1199 that is always there, or does it go away when the rear linkage is changed from F to P? When I read about a few bikes engines stalling or feeling like they were about to stall, it brought back memories of years of 1098 and 1198 stalling issues that Ducati never seemed to get a handle on. One guy I know sold his 1198 because of this. Reading the early reviews of the bike from the Yas Marina circuit gave me a bit of a feeling that some things said about the 1199 there were a bit too good to be true.. I really want to love the 1199 and hope that this bike wont have some of the persistent issues that the 1098/1198 had.
 
Can't blame you for feeling that way. I didn't pre-order since I wanted to see how the bike shakes out compared to the claims and hype. I have two Ducatis and never bought a bike without test riding one first or before the second year version came out. If you want peace of mind, wait and see how the bike turns out. That's my plan;)

Watch the motorcycle.com shooutout preview. They didn't mention it and the only negative thing they had to say was that the seat was hard.
 
The trouble with forums is that it is usually the ones with issues that post. There are probably 20 or so (?) people who have problems on here, I wonder how many people have 1199s and are very happy with them?

I put a deposit down before the test ride, but the deposit is refundable and has at least put me on the list to pick the bike up. I have since test ridden the bike, and wow! it was fun.

I for one am going ahead with the purchase.
 
My 1199S TRI is amazing...! :D
Can't find anything wrong, even the side stand works perfectly IMO.
 
Sure some folks have had issues, me included, but I still love the bike and yearn to ride it whenever I can. The way I see it is that this forum lets you get a real world idea of what its like to live with the Panigale, warts and all.

There are a few folks that say they've decided not to buy a Panigale based on some of the feedback in this forum, that's their loss and it means you're one place in the queue nearer to getting your bike. You have to weigh up all the good and the bad and there's lots that's good.

Would I buy the Panigale again - oh yes. Is all the Ducati marketing bull (Checkmate?) true, no. Is the Panigale perfect, no. Do I give a toss that the S1000RR maybe, might, possibly, be 4 mph faster in a straight line or generate 8 bhp more, no. I rode the S1000RR before deciding to buy the Panigale on spec, it didn't light my fire and has to be ridden like you stole it to have any fun.

From an owner, get the Panigale you won't regret it.

Mark another check in the "I love my bike and wouldn't trade it for anything" column. Yes it has smoked a little, yes it took a few seconds to start once or twice, but overall this thing is a machine! IMO it handles superb, even on the crappy New England roads we have around here. It sounds amazing and looks like no other. Only time will tell if it will truly live up to the hype. For an average rider, meaning I'm no Valentino Rossi, I think this bike is incredible and I have NO regrets.
 
I had an S1000rr and it was a great bike. Problem is it was boring. Can't wait to get my 1199 next week. I sure hope it brings back some of the passion I had for my 848. That's why the ducati is a better bike FOR ME
 
^ I'm coming from an 848EVO. You're going to LOVE this thing! It's like the 848's older brother, on steroids, with tons of goodies.

However, like some I am going to wait until a couple of real world reviews have been conducted. Also, as my dad said, never by a first version! In my sights are the RSV4R Factory, S1000RR or 1199 Tricolore .
Both the S1000RR and RSV4R are both better bikes the second generation around. So will the 1199. 2012 will be a year to gauge public reaction, uptake and complaints, then upgrade/fix any small/large issues as they did with the 1098 to 1198.

I doubt there will be much change to this bike for 2013 unless it a color add or change. I imagine they will be spending the better part of the year just trying to build bikes to fill outstanding orders.
 
My Tric still lives in the house - I love it that much :)
 
I finally had my test ride today and it lived up to every expectation I had. I loved it and can't wait to get it. It's smooth, fast, forgiving, solid, and sexy as could be. And Holyshit are the stock pipes loud.

I did the same with the test ride... My thoughts exactly... However people I direct you to a post here that says.. 1199 vs BMW s1000rr.... Someone who owned both at same time... Needless to say the Beemer has been sold!
 
I saw my first Tricolore in person today - two weeks after placing a deposit on one - I was not disappointed! Mine will be the next one that arrives.

I ordered the Ducati Corse complete manifold set which will be sent for coating immediately after it arrives simply because of the numerous comments about radiated heat. I'm going with Jet-Hot ceramic. Haven't yet decided on a color, if any. Also, I'm guessing EGT will be something less than 1500F when riding hard - anyone have any real data?

Really looking forward to taking it to MotoGP at Laguna Seca, which is about 2hrs south of me and likely the longest ride I'll take in one stretch and will reserve performance and handling comments until then - unless there is something major to rave or rant about.

the bike is excellent yes it smokes and the paint is soft but it rides stops and looks fantastic i love mine

Monroe motors on valencia, I'm number five on the list but no word when the shipments arriving, and I've had a deposit since october! Do you know how many and when ace is getting their bikes in?
