Sicom Rotors/Pads

I have MS with TI pistons, they are really good. If you want to split hairs the 4x 30mm pistons to somewhat hit a grey area for Master size - I went with 19mm while some prefer the feel of the 17mm.
MS was the only real. option for me when I was building my bike.
Ha, good info. Did you use the stock Brembo Ti 30s or are they aftermarket? additionally do your MS calipers have the anti pad backing wear pieces? (see photo) or does the pad backing ride on the caliper body itself?

Bummer, couldn't really tell if they had anything in there between the pad backing and the caliper body. My original monoblocks are a little beat up in that area. Probably why they started putting that system in place on all the new stuff. Potentially the Nickle finish is somewhat more robust than the anodized surface.

Is there a significant benefit to using Ti pistons versus those trick vented Braketech pistons?

Of course not. It’s a bit like wearing a Daytona when you’re iPhone has a clock.

Lol, guilty as charged, or close enough….worse still I rarely even change the time on my watch as I pass through time zones every week.C763352F-73B7-46F8-8ECA-4E98ECB5AFFF.jpeg

LOL my wife says “I think the boys at Gulfstream wear fake Rolex, yours is the only one I see that never has the right time” you’re a little more stylish than me.

Lol

I got this one just because it’s THE classic Rolex, I wanted my son to see me wearing it for 30 years so it’s ‘Dad’s watch’ in his mind, abs then pass it to him, kinda of give it family provenance for him.

Been looking for a good example of the Pepsi Daytona

What brake pads do you run with the MS?

Steven, three options for 100mm calipers. If I were going to buy a 100mm caliper I would get the RR,1, because I have the P4 and servicing them especially with the QD fittings is super easy and 2, they have the anti wear retainers and I have seen what pad backing does to the aluminum finish under hard use. If i didnt want to touch it, I'd go with the MS all day especially if you like the nickle finish and who doesn't. Last would be the P4 again I have had these for years but I like the anti wear retainers and the updated design of the RR.

Next option would be to replace the fork bottoms with 108mm spacing

1 Brembo GP4-RR part # XB9L2A0. Top of the line race caliper in 100mm spacing. 22.5 offset, 32/36 Ti pistons, positive pad retention system, no dust seals appears to only be available in an anodized finish for 100mm
2 Brembo P4 32/36 Monoblock part # XA7G2A0/1. Older caliper with a standard monoblock shape, 100mm spacing, 22.5 offset, 32.36 Ti pistons, single pad retention, no anti wear retainers no dust seals
4 Brembo GP4-MS 220D60010 Billet monoblock similar to the RR caliper in style. 100mm spacing, 22.5 offset, 30/30 aluminum pistons, no anti wear retainers, dust seals

This is the latest and the most costly caliper available to the public (sort of). Not entirely sure what the little sensor looking things are poking out of it. I have seen them on the new sbk and motogp finned calipers but have never seen anything attached to them. There is rumored to be a guy overseas who has a set of the finned wsbk calipers and I have seen a pic but not sure. In any case that's 5 figures for a set of calipers.

In another 5 years I’ll be more like you Endo, where I have things sorted to have time tooling around in the garage, that would be blissful for me lol

Until then I either have time to ride or time to work on a bike on any given day or weekend, abs between those two I’ll chose riding every time for now.

So the highest performance and lowest maintenance is the best option for me.

I also didn’t want to change my shocks and lose all the electronic helpers on the bike, or have down time changing the lower brake brackets.

But it’s looking more snd more like I’m going to have to go with a custom suspension to really get the bike dialed in for my size…probably custom valves Mupo or Ktech…..leaning toward KTech, at which point there is no longer a reason to stay with the 100 versus the 108 caliper brackets.

I think my game plan is going to be to go with the MS for now with Braketech pistons (I like the vent holes over the titanium options I saw, and the alloy they use offer similar lack of heat transference as the Ti pistons)

I’ll get some track days in on that setup using a few different pads, and when the swingarm gets here in 8 weeks I’ll do a few track days with that trying out the 115 spring in the back abs the 11.0 front fork springs, see how they feel, then look at doing a bespoke valved front and rear suspension setup, with the 108 mm bracket, and something like the RR calipers.

I had time to kill before my first scheduled track days, so I did all the mods that were kind of no brainers because even on the street I didn’t like how something felt, but at some point the only way to really get things right is more seat time, this bike is pretty much at that point minus the brakes and swingarm.

And I firmly believe in not letting perfect be the enemy of the good….especially if that gets me more seat time versus wrench time.

I’m pretty sure the MS calipers with a few upgrades and the right pads will serve me well for now without changing the shock components out, and I don’t want to change the shock components until that swingarm is on there. Doesn’t make sense to change the suspension twice, mostly because I hate the process of dialing in a suspension haha, it’s tedious and frustrating for me, always has been, but changing the brakes again, after the suspension is done is no more tedious that swiping the Amex lol

LOL good plan. Fortunately, I have a lot of quality, hard working individuals making it look like I know what the hell I'm doing. Toys are a bit maddening yet I find some therapeutic ballance in buying cool .... I don't need. Weird.

Also forgot to mention, I have the milgauss - I think the most overlooked design...

Those Milgauss are cool pieces.

I’ve been looking for a Pepsi GMT….love those watches but the price doubled on them over about a 6 month period, they are for sure way over priced right now, like there is a bubble in the Pepsi GMT market, I’m just annoyed at the idea of paying double for the same watch for not buying it sooner and keep convincing myself that if I wait the price will go back down again lol

The Milgauss is a great piece. Is it vintage or the mid 2000 model? I wear mostly B&R. I have a few of them probably because the aviation affiliation and you don’t see them very often. One of the reasons I never got the Panerai, everyone had one. I have the Breitling Emergency and the B-50. Rolex I have 2 GMTs.

I need that damn Daytona. I have no idea why I didn’t buy that damn thing then again, I really don’t need any of this “man jewelry”. Pales in comparison to some of these guys in Newport, Six figure watches are everywhere. I should sell all this goofy ..... My wife bought me a really nice German made carbon watch winder. Things still in the box. Favorite watch is my first B&R. It’s beat up but it’s a work horse

There are some nice watches here. I'm a sucker for diving and sport watches, and especially Rolex. I just love the clean and classy design. I wouldn't mind getting my hands on the new polar Explorer. I love the contrasting white dial and black hands and markers. Here's my "daily" wearer:

Damn Taz now you have me stuck on another watch I don’t need. You’re absolutely correct. That Rolex PE looks great. If I grab the Daytona, I’m getting the white face. That Sea Dweller is a beast. I love that thing. I should have gotten that instead of the other GMT. Bad decision. That SD you have is the outstanding.

Haha! Sorry, man! :D At first the steel bezel turned me away from the explorer lineup, but now I appreciate how it enhances the tool watch characteristics of it. They're also quite thin so it's a very versatile piece.

This is the new version of the Deepsea, and I just love the thing. Even though it's a bit hefty it actually wears quite nice. The larger bracelet and reshaped lugs balances it out more compared to the older version. I wouldn't really recommend it for anything less than a 7.5" wrist though. Mine is about 8" and it feels just right. Definitely pick one up if you get the chance ;)
