Smoke from Exhaust

Ducati Forum

Help Support Ducati Forum:

Wow! I'm amazed to see sooo many experts on this forum, who seem to know more about engine and bike than the people who spent years actually making it!!!

If a company like Ducati are going to sell faulty and broken superbikes then maybe the experts should not waste money and make their own bikes that don't smoke on startup!

And you guys believe that Ducati will watch the forum and be like, oh there are some very smart experts over at the forum, maybe we should consult them on how to fix the magic white smoke!
Lol!

Just sayin!

Plus one. I am with this guy. I cannot believe some people actually believe its an issue. Ducati spent 3 years designing a new bike and completely stuffed it. A then hid the problem from all the world press at the ride press release. I guess some people here think the moon landings were faked.

The Superquadro engine is extremely sporty and as you already know is equipped with a new piston and cylinder heat system and large piston diameter of 112 mm. It is necessary for this engine to be run in appropriately to allow adjustment of the mechanical components and also the correct seating of the piston rings.

Particularly during the running in period, corresponding to the usual 1000 Km (deadline provided with onboard instrumentation), it may be that the oil consumption and exhaust smoke are higher than average, but without this being a problem with the engine in question. Running in and the gradual settling of the components will lead to a rapid reduction of the engine lubricant to normal values. Therefore it is recommended to verify the level of the lubricating oil during the running in period, approximately every 300km (for the correct level verification see page of the Owner’s Manual)

I can't believe that there are so many of you who believe that Ducati is infallible with a completely new model and a completely new design.

Anyone remember the release of the RSV4 just two years ago? All of the bikes in the first 6 months of production had to have the engines replaced.
Ducati is no more perfect than Aprilia.

If some of you want to stick your head in the sand and blindly hand over the dough, well that's up to you. But I'm going to keep my eyes open and question what I see.

Gotta disagree, we're just not really talking the same thing:

- Aprilia were let down by a supplier that provided a batch of components out of spec, which subsequently failed. The engine design was not at fault, having made its debut in the RSV4 Factory without issue.

- As a mark, Ducati is considerably more "perfect" than Aprilia as a high-end motorcycle manufacturer. Ducati's warranty procedures and customer service is in a different league to Aprilia, who would happily piss on its owners.

Free, is this from your owners manual or were you able to find it online?

Or something else?

Couldn't agree more with you !!

and i can't believe this subject is still being discussed. IMO

I'm not saying the engine design is at fault, I don't know what is happening nor do any of the rest of us. The point I'm making is anything can happen on a new design, new build, new bike, from any manufacturer.

So I am talking about the same thing.

Hey, I'm not saying there's a problem here at all. I'm just saying that it is possible and that I will be wary.

At least hand out a Ducati branded gas-mask or something. :D

'sif. It will cost $239.99
$390.00 for the DP one.

PS: Can this thread be about fat dogs now?

Cant believe this is still going.....TB said no probs and now there is a a Panigale here that has done over 400km by someone who is going to race one and he said no problems.....and it appears that by 50km it has gone completely. For me that is a trip to town and all gone:)

Plus you dont think all those Journo's at Abu Dhabi would have seen the problem if there was one and not let something leak.
For me I dont care, coz I know in less than 2 months I will have that sound in my ear, the wind in my face and a smile from ear to ear:D
