At least someone got back to you, I'm still waiting to hear from anyone about a resolution to my chain rubbing against the swing arm which is also a very common problem with R's. :mad:

Throttle modification.

I placed a dowel though the hole of the handlebar. The dowel is 26mm in length. The hole measures 6mm. Look at the pictures and you will get the idea. Don't worry about the throttle moving left and right because is doesn't move as much. (From the stop switch to the bar end). If you have a dremel or a file modify the upper part of the throttle. If you are doing this modifications good luck and Godspeed.

Instead of notching the upper throttle assy couldn't you have separated the upper and lower halfs then put them back together on top of it. With that notch it appears the throttle assy would slide off of the dowel
 
It won't slide off because the throttle movement from side to side is not more than two millimeters. (Bar end to stop switch). The dowel or hole is 6mm. I could modify the lower part but didn't bother to.

I like how your brain works. I kept wondering how to re-create the protrusion from the housing side. I wasn't thinking make a stud from the handlebar side.

So after installing my 717 grips last week I just noticed that if I rotate the throttle grip all the way down, with the bike off, after the throttle grip stop, the entire throttle housing moves. So then I move the grip clockwise and after it hits the stop there, the whole assembly moves again.

All I see are 2 phillips screws so I tightened those and it made it a lot better. Any help??

All I did was install the new grips. Maybe torquing on the grip did something. Weird.....

Throttle works fine otherwise when bike is started.
