Some track day prep questions

You are being an idiot the findings were already there… not sure we need to reconfirm a round wheel is better!

You stated YOUR findings. A lot more people had recommended the 19 and so I tried it.

I did say I did not want to rehash the other thread here, but as some intent on doing so, I’ll remind you that I need a 19x18 for my Sport Classic anyway, so it was a no-lose situation to try it.

What I have done is expressed an opinion based on practical experience rather than something I read on the internet… You should be happy.

the basic calculations around lever ratio tell the story factually and did so right at the beginning of this and still do so.

Whilst I don’t want to agree with the others this doesn’t make sense..
The 19x18 is resulting in me slowing down too much. Feel is ok but I think there’s a lack of modulation. Long and light on the brakes isn’t as easy to achieve. I think I’ll get a 17 RCS and be done with it.

In what way does it not make sense?

I actually liked the more direct feel but found the release hard to modulate. I did get used to it (you quoted my comment made after my first session) and I could use it but I think the 17 might suit me better. I think it simply comes down to what feel you prefer.

And I do mean with respect…. But you are 15 seconds off the pace of winning inters!
Things and feel change when the pace goes up …maybe that’s the point to be looking for this answer, with probably so much more to work with before this, and just accepting the tried and trusted answers to bits of kit required even if they are for the future.

I guess you improving to the feel of the right brake rather than bringing it back to where you are atm.

I found the OEM brakes to be a bit vague and I simply wanted to try a different MC to see if it would give me a better feel for what they are doing. 🤷‍♂️ Getting faster is completely about technique at this stage (and for a very long time to come).

You say I should accept the tried and trusted answers, and I get that, but you forget that far more people recommended the 19x18 - that was the majority recommendation by a significant margin. I've lost absolutely nothing by trying it. If I had taken your recommendation then I have no doubt that I would have been pleased with it, but I would still have wondered about the 19x18 due to the volume of recommendations. Now I know. It's not really something that requires pages of discussion. 🤷‍♂️

The Jetprime QA seems a little bit different to the OEM one. It could be my imagination, but it felt like acceleration was more gradual through the initial two-thirds of the throw - perhaps finer control - and hard acceleration only seemed to come at the very end of the throw. Again, it could be my imagination. The OEM throttle is really very good though and a huge improvement over the one on my SP2.

I definitely think the DDA was struggling under the carbon - it reckons I did a top speed of 272kph and I really don't think I did. 🤣

Looking at the wear indicators in this picture, does the tyre need to be changed now or does it still have life in it? The top one is almost gone and the side one has a bit left. I'm inclined to change it.

I change V02s either when outer marker is flat or it starts to slide under acceleration.
Usually it lasts 1.5-2 days of fast group pace
