i like many of you recently got the new 41 t sprocket. when i picked up the bike i asked about an up map. they said there was none. is this true? the last upmap i received was about march with my termi slips. am i up to date.

The last Factory generated up date was last December..(12-005)...the up map you got when installing the Termis was always available...Updates and Upmaps are different animals.... You are up to date...:) Till the next update...lol..

thats why im confused. i know i got the right update for the termis however i also heard of the update for feb which i still havnt seen

This is news to me and I spent 3 hours on Saturday at my dealer getting my sprocket kit installed. No 'sprocket update' was mentioned in any fashion. Until we have proof, it's .........

My dealer also said that there was no update/up-map with the 41t sprocket install.

all of the updated firmware should account for the ability to add the 41t sprocket. It's just the outdated ones that need an upmap. That is from motocorsa. Mine didn't need one since the software was current.

Rang my local dealer to enquire about the map and the service manager advised it is not a Map as such however there is an "update" required as per his service bulletin and it was supposedly mandatory.

How hard is it to install the chain + sprocket upgrade yourself?

My problem is with my ECU being reflashed via tuneboy I'm unsure if the update will effect my current tune and secondly if they realise it has been reflashed then they will likely declare my warranty void.

Especially if you have not installed the wide band sensors I would revert to factory tune before your service. I do not know what the dealer will see on the DDS if you rock up with TB installed. You dealer will undoubtably upgrade you to the latest map (206). When you return from your upgrade Ducati has registered that your VIN has been updated to 206 and you can safely reload your TB Tune. TB tunes based on 206 will be released in the next couple of weeks as I understand it.
If you have the wide bands installed then you need to consider if you will remove them or rock up and ask the dealer not to perform the update although they may be compelled by the DDS.

I got my 41T installed and stealership said there was an update that had to be installed for it. The sprocket and chain install took longer than I wanted and since I was in a rush and running late and was considering leaving the stealership after and return another day for the update and said that it was mandatory and that they are not liable for problems resulting from riding it without the update. I didnt want to risk playing voided warrantee games so I waited. It was only a 5 min update. They connected it to their computer and got on a supposed "secure Ducati connection" via the internet (yea right...) and then poof I'm off on the road. I'm glad i got the new sprocket. It feels good and feels more responsive.
I went to Eurosport Cycle in Ft Worth.

I don't believe there is a ECU update specifically for the 41T sprocket.
The current "latest" map was released end of 2012. December sometime. You don't have to take the 41T upgrade offer to receive the ECU update.
I had it applied when I went in to have the header heat shield upgrade. Initially the bike felt smoother and more responsive, but after a few weeks I don't think it made much difference at all. I suspect this is due to the long term fuel trim being reset during the ECU update.

After about a month, I went back in and took up the 41T upgrade offer. This has made a pretty big difference in ride-ability at mere commuting speeds.
Like I posted in another thread. the 2012 Pani always felt like it was "out of gear" like I was riding a gear too high for the speed I was going. With the 41t sprocket, I feel the FDR is just about right.

@Copyia: If you already have the tools, then I can't see it taking more than a hour or two to do.
Fraser's gave me the option of buying the Sprocket, Chain and cog at the "special" price and DIY, but they recommended that they did it.
I did the sums, and buying all the tools required, would have costed me a lot more.

Could be a VPN connection to Ducati, it's certainly possible. It is a $10,000 machine after all.

The 41T update would be necessary to correct the speedo anyway.

I would be very surprised if they didn't know your bike had been flash outside of DDS.
There is usually a checksum or counter when the ECU gets flashed. At the very basic level, this can be verified against how many times DDS has flashed your ECU.
They can get very clever with the checksums, eg. logging the Dealer number with the date it was flashed etc etc. But lets assume that Ducati aren't all that clever, you'll still get caught out on the counter.

Push comes to shove, the dealer may not say anything or the dealer may not even know any better until it comes time for a claim.

IMO. once I start flashing ECU modding route, I am of the belief that I have to pay to play.

Thanks, I'm going to take the DIY option and avoid the ecu update.
Hopefully it won't effect the speedo.

It should have absolutely no bearing on the speedo. Only front tire diameter would affect the speedo.

THe 1199 uses a wheel sensor, not a gear sensor like the Jap bikes.

The last upmap they had includes the 41T DTC updates within it, and uses an algorithm that recognizes if you have 39T or 41T based on RPM differentials. So you're good!
