Stock levers suck

Hi Sleekstyle- just a warning with aftermarket levers specifically installed on the Panigale.
Reason why they are long...is for it to clear the plastic starter housing and throttle plastic casing on the right side.

WARNING!!!! INSTALLING AFTER MARKET LEVERS on the right hand side of the bike WILL NOT CLEAR THE PLASTIC HOUSING OF THE STARTER AND THROTTLE CASING when pressed hard towards the grip. THE ANGLED PART OF THE AFTERMARKET LEVER WILL HIT THE HOUSING WHEN YOU APPLY THE BRAKES hard. That is the reason why Ducati made the Brake levers on the Panigale so long....actually the lever is not really long but its the angled portion of the Panigale lever that is long. The angle of the bend of your aftermarket lever may not clear the plastic housing.

What you can do is look at the aftermarket lever angle and compare it with the stock one on your bike... pressing the aftyermarket brake lever hard enough...and you will see that the angled portion of the aftermarket lever will hit the housing...

The Left hand side has no issues. Its just the right hand side...I know...cos I had a brembo RCS brake master installed and it would hit the plastic housing...I immediately removed it and sold it to a friend.

Check it out first before purchasing...

FYI:

Just fitted the ASV C5 shorty.. no clearance issues here. I can see how the brake lever might hit the rbw assembly, but my front wheel would've well and truely locked up an inch before that happened, unless i had air in my lines or no fluid. In which case, my braking is going to be compromised anyways.

Sorry for the rant, you would think paying over 20k it would come with decent levers. Just ordered some asv c5 shortys today. Btw they are made to order fellas so expect 1-2 weeks for delivery. Will post pics of the levers when they arrive.

I think the levers are fine. No short levers on MotoGP bikes. Remember you will not get full power braking before some short levers hit the bar.

I think many short levers are just bling.

I think Miguel's problem wasn't the levers so much as the RCS master cylinder he installed. Both master cylinders on the Panigale are angled towards the outside end of the bar, whereas the RCS cylinder is perpendicular to the bar. It appears the ones on the Pani are made that way to make room for all the gear on the right handlebar, which takes up a lot more real estate than before. Ducati have used angled masters before to clear the switchgear, but the Pani appears to take it further than ever.

This creates a problem for me as I'd like to be able to get the bars set about an inch narrower per side as I really don't like the wide, flat bar setup at all. Even if I put a narrower starter/kill switch on to make room on the right side (left has plenty of empty bar space to snug things up), the angled masters would still have the levers positioned too wide even with the clamps up against the fork legs.

I spend alot of time teaching body position while coaching at the track and shorty levers are not good for those who really get BP right. To get "off the bike" properly in a right turn you must be able to use your fore finger and thumb around the throttle and 2 or 3 of you other fingers for braking. On shorties, the braking needs your fore finger to apply heavy brakes.

I love the stock levers. I hate short levers. Personal preference, ya know. ;)
