So I picked the bike up yesterday from Arthur at Desmo Head Quarters. They have replaced everything that contains the water circuit... Failure appears to be the either the heads themselves or the main O-ring between the cylinder and the heads. There was absolutely no water in the oil, just oil in the water so bottom end was all sweet as were pistons, sleeves etc...So whilst not a complete rebuild, as long as the issue is fixed then I'm happy.
He did have this sitting in the shop which I drooled over until I near reached a point of dehydration....
Got the bike home and took it for a good ride over Mt Tamborine and its running beautifully. Given that I've hardly had any seat time on this bike prior to the failure it was only the second proper ride I've had on the thing so I'm still getting comfortable on it. Amazed though how easily it changes direction and how stable it is mid corner.
All in all, I'm very happy with how Ducati Australia has handled the whole warranty process and again I cant say enough good things about Arthur and the crew and Desmo HQ Byron Bay. Looking forward to getting some serious km's on it now and a trackday next month!
