Hey Bane, care to share your trade in offer? I looked into trading my 2012 RSV4 Factory, 2500 miles, still under warranty in for an HP4. Offered 7 or 7500.00 (can't remember). Silly .......s!

I will give you $7600 for your RSV4!

Let's just say the offer was insulting. Problem is all the dealers have excess inventory and we are going into winter very soon.

OP - you do realize the 2015 S1000RR is better in every way than the now discontinued HP4, except perhaps the lightweight forged wheels, don't you? There is only one model now but it is 8.8 pounds lighter, has 6 hp more with an improved torque curve, has some chassis modifications to ostensibly make it handle better and is available with the HP4's DDC. Lastly, the Shift Assistant Pro now allows clutch less downshifting in addition to clutchless upshifts. All for thousands less than an HP4. Get a 2015, use the savings to buy some carbon fiber wheels and a new exhaust and pocket the rest knowing you've got a better bike than the HP4.

Makes me want to go out and get a red one to put next to the 1199. Great sales pitch.

friend of mine was looking into the s1krr for racing as well, they offered him 8 grand for his rsv4.

he sold it privately and got himself a ninja :) and is totally happy.

from what i've heard, the '15 s1krr will be veeery close to the recent hp4

funny you say that. i told one of the dealers that i'm very surprised that they wouldn't negotiate more since the 2015 will be out soon. his response was that a lot of people are thinking that the 2015 s1000rr won't nearly be as user friendly and intuitive compared to the HP4. they believe that if they made the s1000rr stock with all of the '13-'14 HP4 features, HP4 owners would go crazy (which i would if that were the case and i owned an HP4). so this (and the fact that they have excess inventory) is why they are maintaining their greedy numbers

That dealer response is one of the dumbest salesman BS lines I've ever heard in my life. How will the brand new S1000RR be not as "user friendly and intuitive" as the last generation? It's got newer and better features. It's made by the same people who knocked the first one out of the park on their first try. It is the culmination of everything they learned racing the bike, and then they added cruise control to make it an even better road bike. I would have laughed in his face.

I personally think they missed it on the styling side, especially given how good a job they did with the RnineT as a retro-modern bike. Even still, I'm really starting to think hard about one.

i agree, it was a lousy excuse. but all of the dealers i've been trying to work with won't budge. i wonder how current hp4 owners feel?

If I were still a HP4 owner, I would convince myself that it is still something special. But that special feeling is BS. They over produced them to cash in. And ALL of the tech that the HP4 has is in the s1k and improved. HP4 is yesterday's news. To me, the value should be dropping.

I guess they're holding out for motivated buyers who want to ride now since the 2015 models probably won't be available until March. Our own Mark who turned coat and went with an HP4 only a couple months ago hasn't really said too much about the 2nd Gen S1000RR. If it were me I'd be quite pissed as the collector value of the HP4 was never going to be like the HP2, and for them to not leave any advantage for the HP4 other than mock exclusivity would piss me off to no end.

jeff you are asking how i feel about the hp4. i absolutely love it. best bike i have ever ridden except maybe for the 1098r but that bike is so violent its hard to control.

i dont care what the 2015 s1000rr offers as it would cost me the same after im finished with it anyway and i couldnt get the color scheme i want. the ever so marginal performance i couldnt extract anyway. I only like how the hp4 looks i wouldnt buy a base s1000rr nor the hp4base.

i got the hp4 comp because of the carbon, color and the performance. (in the beginning i wanted to buy a white 1199 and copy double 0 but i couldnt be a copy cat even though he lives the other side of the country, so i went with the hp4 besides did i really want 2 1199s)

i have to have all 3 so 2 out of 3 (color carbon performance)would not work. the second gen s1000rr doesnt interest me in the least. my favorite colors are white and blue (reason why i love double 0 1199 so much) they made 2500 base and 2500 comps each year for the US i dont care about that either.

also the reason i will be turning my s into a carbon tri. because you dont see them. red 1199 are everywhere i never wanted red i wanted white like the (1198) but wasnt certain one would come out and when it did it was more flat white. you dont see many hp4 around just like you dont see many tris around.

i have only seen one tri in person on the road and that was gunnys so that doesnt count. i know flobrandX has one ive met him never met his bike. anyone else i dont know personally so they dont count. i know they are around but they are rare to see. i see more R bikes than tri bikes.
then you have scrapperX and double 0 whos bikes are special

lastly if i sit and wait for something to come out i will never have anything. also who is to say that i will even like the 2015 redesign. as i said i dont because it doesnt have the color scheme i want nor the carbon. why are you not saying this about the 2014 R buyers when 15 will be 1299 R. same situation. do you think the 2014 R buyers are pissed? what about 2014 R1 buyers as the 2015 R1 is rumored to be 230 hp. Ninja buyer now could have waited for H2? last year 3 series coupe buyer vs new 4 series. i could go on and on. did you not think i knew something was on the horizon? i wanted the hp4 so i got it. not disappointed in the least with the bike nor the second generation announcement. do you think iphone 6 people are pissed that the iphone 7 is less than a year away?

lastly to jeff. i was being totally honest in my answer to you. i was not being combative in the least or trying to be loud or obnoxious in my response. i know sometimes its hard to read tone in a text but easy to take it the wrong way (not saying you are) but just want to be clear it was an open honest non aggressive answer.

besides im not really known to be combative am i ;)

As always.....appreciate the kind words about my bike.

I'm a huge advocate of being unique. To me, that trumps any kind of performance benefits, specs, which year bike it is, etc. i want a bike no one will ever see again. I mean possibly but highly unlikely. Afterall, primer isn't a favorite amongst most but a perfect canvas to start with :)

I really wanna be a fan of the BMW bikes but I just can't get over the headlight design. Otherwise, I also think it's an exceptional machine. Can't wait til next month's motorcycle show to see all the 2015 models. King of the hill may very well be dethroned.

I agree with you on the headlight design but the 2015 doesn't look as bad as previous models IMO. In fact, after seeing the HP4 in person it made me appreciate all of the other aesthetics of the bike. Then when it came to the headlights, it didn't bother me as much
