hi everyone, im Quinten from amsterdam. i would like to know if anyone knows something about a optional "LED'' kit for the base model? or is Xenon lighting the only other option?

Greets From Amsterdam:D

If you want low/high main beam riding LEDs, then you will need to buy an S!

All 1199 versions have LED side-lights and indicators at the front.

All 1199 versions have full LEDs at the rear (plate, indicators, brake).

Never gonna see an official Ducati kit IMO.

.... before someone gets smart, 1199 Corse doesn't count:p

Ok thanks for your reply!:) , i guess i wil put xenon lighting in the bike then. hope there is enough room for the ballasts from the xenon.

i ordered a base model with termi slip on.
they told me the cataly converter is at the damper so i only have to put on the slip on to remove te cat.

:)

I really doubt thats correct.

Slip-ons are a street legal, simple can swap and the cat isn't in the cans!!

You need the headers if you want to lose the cat and exhaust valve.

yes i thought also.. maybe with a link pipe or something. i have no idea but the ducati dealer here in amsterdam told me this. i hope it's true :p haha.

I just spoke with them again for you :). the converters are inside the dampers!! he told me that it is the same as in the 1198 models ( i don't know if that's true) but he know's this for 100% sure. i think they are streetlegal because they have dB killers?

greets!!

Hope that true!

Thank for calling for me:p:p:p

your welcome ! :p can't wait for the ''motorbeurs utrecht'' here in holland. then i can finally see the bike :).

If the new slip ons also have cats inside that could be the reason why they're legal....

according to the ducati dealer here in holland you wil het more Hp. and the dampers are totally open he says. the full system is gives aprox 3-4 more topend hp according to him. but with the slip-ons and the key up mapping and aftermarket airfilter you wil get more Hp aprox 200-201HP.

So typically Ducatisti - a headlight thread turning into an exhaust discussion :p

Anyhow, back onto the off-topic topic......

... I wouldn't be 100% happy running an aftermarket filter with the factory slip-on map.

If it flows more air, then the map should know about it IMO.

The catalytic converters in the 1098/1198 were in the endcans, there was no room for them anywhere else. I am sure the converters in the 1199 are in the endcans as well for the same reason. Typically a slipon deletes the converters. As said above, its a different story if Termi has started selling street legal slipons that have the converter in them.

Back on the headlamp thing, I am going to have to see both models side by side to see if the LED lighting is really that much more worth the higher price. Looking at the Ducati website, the weights are the same for the 1199 and 1199S with the different wheels and lights. I might just get a standard 1199, slap a carbon fiber front fender on it along with some red wheel stripes and use the money saved to lower my monthly payment.

I would expect the Halogen headlights to look a bit yellow next to the LED sidelights, if you fit HID's that will level up the colour and give a crisp white light that should be similar to LEDs.

I made this change on my S1000RR and the results were superb

Would nearly have the look anyway ;)

yes i will put some HID's in my panigale with Slim Ballasts. i think i will go for 8000K. has anyone ever had 10000K? i have never seen it on the road so i don't know if that is a little bit too much :p!!

I think 10000k would be too much, the light is going purple at that level, also if you plan on riding in the dark, anything beyond 6000k will degrade the light

I had some 8000k hids on my last bike and I really couldn't see that much better at night. I went back to the old bulbs
