Trouble starting my V2

I did a 5+ ride up in the mountains today. I stopped for about 30 mins for a bathroom break and a quick bite to eat. When I got back to my bike it wouldn’t start. I called my dealer, and he told me it’s probably because of the evap canister. He said I should remove it. I’ve done a few searches, but not finding anything about doing this on a V2. Any input would be thankfully received. I eventually get the bike to crank by holding the throttle wide open while starting it up. Really weird.

could be a good starting point. Can you get your bike apart so we can see what we’re working with?

V4 is below

Maybe your bike has a similar EVAP setup to the 99s or V4s. Otherwise make nice with ur service writer and ask for a copy of the Akra install instructions and evap removal instructions. If you’re lucky they will print it for you and say “you didn’t get this here”

the canister is only held in with a rubber band under the starboard upper fairing.

you could just plug the purge line that runs up to the manifold. the tank does need to breathe.

for what it's worth, i pinched the line just a little with the a zip tie. i dont think it did much to restrict airflow.

i've had some cold instances but never a hard/no start from hot. rolling the bike out of the AC into the hot air caused issues so i let it sit outside before cranking. if it didnt start on the 2nd crank, i pull the key to be sure the ignition switch was communicating with the rfid in the key. so far, a 100% success rate with that method on a cold no start.

being curious, it would let me flip through the riding mode settings so the throttle spacers do allow a zero throttle reading.

next time i run the fuel down, i am going to peek at the butterflies to see if the anti-corrosion goop is an issue.

Thanks all! I’ll remove the canister and report back if I have any more hot start issues.

i am curious if unplugging the electrical connector at the purge valve will throw a code.

Wondering this as well. Been digging around and messaging various race teams/bike builders and nobody has given me an answer yet. I guess I'll figure it out on my own eventually, waiting for parts to come in before I can button my bike back together. Currently has no dash or front electronics plugged in.

Same issue here with a 2020 v2, that does not like to start when cold. It gets solved by opening the fuel tank, closing it and starts at the first try ...

note that 'opening the tank' cycles the key sensor in the ignition switch.

a reboot if you will.
