The real .... up here are the cyclists, it never ends with the ....... cyclists. They have more rights than vehicles where I live, and they're not licensed or insured to be on the road.

Technically he should have waited for a straight bit of road. But he may have thought /seen it was clear and went.
The shame is its slowed down, but there is 5 second between first seeing the white of the truck and being right there. The speedo showed 60 and a bit mph, so, he may well and truly have surprised the truck.

I agree the truck could have waited, but the bike also could not have been speeding

Don't get me wrong I speed every time I get on my bike, I'm just saying OP should not get too bent out of shape when the truck was probably thinking "....... speeding crotch rocket again".

I'm wondering at what point you'll realize how utterly dangerous your thinking is.

It is NEVER ok for a vehicle to be on the wrong side on a blind corner. When even motorcyclists think it's OK, I really worry.

Point is it happens...and that's part of riding on the street, expecting .... like that. If you want to ride like an ......, you take the risk...OP was able to avoid the truck at speed, if he was going the speed limit it would have been easier to stop or get out of the way.

Honestly; that stuff happens every day. Actually, I was surprised yesterday when an oncoming car slowed to a near stop to let me pass before passing a cyclist ahead of her.

The car did not see you; expect it. Cyclists, cars, and motorcycles on a narrow winding road is not a place to be going fast and furious. You must expect cars to be in half of your lane when there are cyclists on the road coming towards you in the opposite lane.

Being technically in the right makes no difference when you're dead.

They are everywhere, over in uk you can go around a bend and they are riding three abreast... fecking joke. they should be band from the roads, no insurance, big danger. One of them crossed the rode in front of me, never even looked and was listening to music.... I don't know how I missed him. I stopped, he apologized, if a car had of been coming the other way I would have crossed the road and hit car....

My opinion,

if the truck gauged how far he could see, and knew he could make it around the bikes before someone traveling at the speed limit could appear and arrive where he would be back in his lane, fine - even though he is breaking the law.

If not, he absolutelyshould not have crossed the double yellow and waited.

Sorry guys, can't pin that one on the cyclists; the one nitwit in the equation is the guy in the truck who thought five or ten seconds of his time were worth more than the lives he just put at risk by blatantly breaking the law. As for cyclists, whether you like 'em or not (and as one for 30+ years, I don't much give a fuzzy care if you like me or not as long as you obey the law - I will be), the ones in that vid were doing precisely what they are prescribed to do by law; riding single file to the right side of the road. Wasn't like they were doing something stupid, which plenty of 'em do. I used to lead group training rides a lot, and spent no small amount of effort trying to teach lunkheads how to behave in traffic. Bottom line is that drivers are drivers; two wheeled or four, gas-powered or burrito-powered, some are good at it and some suck. That vid had one sucker in it.

BTW; the guy on the bike gesturing was no doubt responding to the impending head-on he could see coming. When you see someone do something so completely stupid it's tough not to. Voice of experience...

Its the ballsy cyclists, the ones that think they should be allowed to do the same things as motor vehicles, that annoy me.. sorry but I don't need to sit behind two cyclists next to each other going downhill at 20 mph on a winding canyon road, when I have places to be and am more than capable of comfortably and safely going faster.. you guys do 20 mph if you want, but get out of my way.. if I'm on the bike then its no issue as I just pass them, but in the car its not so easy to pass slow cyclists because of the issue seen in the video.. I'll admit Iv'e honked at more than a few cyclists to get the hell out of my way. Iv'e seen cyclists that obviously have some point of pride in thinking they can keep up with motorized traffic, but all they do is piss off everyone else.

I'm sure as sport bike riders we piss off a lot of other people, but I guess thats ok.(doing over speed limit, passing slow moving cars in corners, lane splitting etc) ....... hypocrites.

I just wish, States build Cycle only lane, addition to main roads. It just causes unnecessary hazards when car/truck or whatever trying to get around on a single road.

If it was ONLY Motorcycle and Cycles (bike), they it WOULD NOT be a much problem since the lane is big enough for both.
