Hi guy's,

Tested the MWR racefilter back to back with the OEM.

Bike is with slipon - latest pr april mapping from Ducati

Did some runs with OEM filter - then fitted the MWR - and did 3 additional runs

To my surprise - the mapping is quite rich... did some quick changes to the mapping with Tuneboy - adding additional 7 HP - ended at 180.

Thanks for posting this!

Do you know the HP gain prior to remapping it though? I'm personally more interested in the cheap bolt-on power than paying for Tuneboy + Dyno time.

Good stuff, makes me lean hard on tuner gear to eek out some more.

I'm sitting just under 173 with the upmap alone.

I don't want to act like and ...... but, one run at 12:28 and one at 12:30? :p

Humm... wrong clock? Wrong graph? Or where you like Speedy Gonzalez on swaping the filter and doing another run?

:D

I was just kidding. :)

Just want to know if you gain or lost HP with the filter.

Just one note, sometimes adding air filters can lead to power loss until new mapping is done. And from my experience, the gains on the air filters are none or marginal. The only gain that you may have is on the long time, since this is usable.
Another downside on the reusable airfilters is the following, when they are dirty, the are less effective then a dirty stock filter.

Hi all,

Just to clearify, at this point, no mapping at all. Just filter swap.

The MWR is the red graph, so gained some 7 bhp

I'm sorry for the confusion, it's because you mentioned the +7hp right after mentioning a Tuneboy re-map.

So you're saying you can probably find even more than 7hp if you dyno it after the Tuneboy map change?

Yes I was asking the same because the two runs are 90 seconds apart. So you stopped and swapped the air filter and got up to speed for 2nd run in 90 seconds ???

90 sec... thats is way quicker than it felt...

I will check the dyno files.

The starting point was 166 bhp - and after filter and a quick remap - ended the bike a 180 bhp

Yes, I would say its next to impossible to start the dyno for that run, end it, switch the filter and start the second one on the dynojet in that amount of time. . . These two were run right after each other with an ever so slight change in something (gear 4 vs gear 5), turn the ram air fans on, something quick and fast. . You wouldn't even be able to load the upmap into the ecu in that amount of time and restart the dyno session..

So I'm pretty sure in saying this is NOT a before and after of changing an air filter. . .

So based on Waf's experience... you can get a max of 10hp going from termi slips to AR with Tuneboy tune, or according to this 14hp from the MWR and Tuneboy. So apparently a ~$150 filter gives you 4 more hp than a ~$4000 exhaust... If this is real, it's the bargain of the year...

I have deleted the link...

I'm sorry, but I think I just lost my credibility

I will just state, that I gained some power after filter and tunebuy mapping.

I did have a look on the files, and I think that as an amateur in dynoing, heat sink in just got me...

Next time, I will
1. Have some prof assistance
2. Keep the results in the drawer

:D

Came on, don't keep the results in the drawer. It's always nice to share results. Just get more organized on the next time. :)

Like I told you, usually aftermarket air filters show marginal gains and sometimes they even loose power.

For me, I'll keep the stock one.

I have actually REALLY wanted to see a before and after dyno run for the MWR (preferably with no map change) so i was pretty excited about this thread. The claims seem to be about +6hp with tuning... the +7 could be believable. The +14 is basically a holy .... that's amazing if that's real number

I'm interested in this'd intake but I'm concerned about the thickness of the filter itself I've heard it can be punctured allowing debris into my motor.

Not really

I'm interested in this'd intake but I'm concerned about the thickness of the filter itself I've heard it can be punctured allowing debris into my motor.

Very good question but this is not really a concern as the filter itself is foam, and the stock one is a paper type filter which is much more prone to any punctures. Once the MWR is installed in place securely it wont be subject to anything to puncture it so you are good to go. The HE filter is a better choice IMHO to go with as it doesnt need cleaning (as often) as the Race one and produces the same type of gains.

There are MANY MANY threads on here about these filters so do a search and read away. If you want one with the membership discount shoot me a PM and I will steer you in proper direction man.
