Uh oh....I kind of want a Harley Night Rod

I don't know about other members but when I get old I'll be progressing to sport touring bikes not cruisers. Riding is all about the corners IMO. If I wanted to go fast in a straight line comfortably I'd do it in a sports car.

Uh - I think a Harley V-rod /is/ a sport tourer. . .

I just can't get over the pirate scene. Leather vests 'n all (also the dumbest piece of safety gear I've ever seen, better hope your arms detach before you hit the pavement.)

So you'll become one of those old farts in a F*****G "sports" car that hold all us old riders up in the twisties while we are riding our harleys:mad:

F**K, F**K, F**K:mad:

Harley don't really make a Sport Tourer.
They sort of make cruisers, and tourers
IMO the BMW K 1300S is more like the ultimate sports tourer.

Yeah you can add chrome, chrome and some more chrome. Then spend all day polishing that chrome.

Hey Frosty,
For your information some people like to spend a lot of time cleaning and detailing the machines they love.
Don't forget, with a Harley there is no chain maintenance, and servicing is cheaper all round:)

Also chrome is one of the easiest things to look after ever, if you have the right attitude, approach and products.

Friend of mine was the service manager at a Harley dealership. Couldn't believe it when people would roll in with their barely used Harley's and drop 10 grand on chrome farkles and the installation of them as part of their "service".

Change the tune, and you get the same. Whats the difference between that and the person who buys a Ducati - and then buys the full Termi kit., set of marchesini wheels and some carbon bits. . . That is essentially the same.

For people who don't use said bike or upgrades, I think it's ludacris.

why be bothered by what other people like to do with their bikes?

Seems like a waste of your time to me.

If someone held a gun to my head, and said you have to buy a new Harley today, this would be the one. I always liked the Sturgis way back when, because they are all black, and I hate chrome :)

larry, mo, and curly....

all 3 on this forum

usually respond to each and every thread and really contribute nothing other than making fun of something, attacking someone, or in general just being annoying.

I didn't ask for your opinion on what you thought about people who ride Harleys.....That is the last thing in the world I would ever base a purchase on. Hmm..."what would some dude with a bunny and a blue waffle who is always on line going to think?"

I'd be more helpful if you sometimes would actually answer a question or be constructive. And if you don't have anything...maybe dont' post?

Not saying some humor is not ok....but between you 3....I seriously feel like this forum is a hell of a lot more immature than it really ought to be.

Not to mention the carbon;)
It has been said that carbon is to ducati like chrome is to harley.

Kind of funny how motorcyclists are isn't it...lol

I'm as guilty as anyone.

Gotta get that carbon key cover guard or that fender better be carbon too....so it can get all dirty from road grime...lol.

My coworker used to have one with a really wide back tire on it (I can't remember the dimensions, but I used to kid him that he didn't need a sidestand) and Rinehart pipes that were ridiculously loud. It was a really nice looking and sounding bike. I know it left him stranded a couple of times (once with a blown cylinder of some sort), but I know he had over 20k miles on it before he sold it. I also like the Breakout and the 883 iron, but they have so many model choices that I can never keep them all straight. :)

I do know there is a bit of "inter-Harley cultural debate" about whether or not the liquid cooled v-rod variants are "real Harleys", but who cares. I'd buy what you like and don't think twice about it.

As far as quality, HD's are much better than they were in the 80's. I had a '08 Rocker C for 2 years and had zero problems. And yes, I added some chrome and such to it.

Overall, it was a good quality bike, but I came back to ducati. If I had the money at the time, I would have kept it for commuting duties and cruising rides.

I know you are asking about vrods, but I've only test ridden a few. Even thought they have a lot more HP than the air cooled HD's, it's more of a laid back ride than our beloved 1199.

Not bad, just different. But then again, sometimes you aren't out to carve corners, but to just chill and cruise. Harleys are perfect for that. Ducati's... not so much...
