I thought the 40k was a cap imposed by homologation regs

Hopefully it will have the tranny update, they have a whole new transmission in the works that has the smooth shifting function of the MotoGP bikes, that couldn’t previously be done on a street bike because the trannies only lasted one race
Would be cool but it won’t be a huge jump in performance… it will make shifts marginally smoother and quicker.
It will probably make shift or ignition cut strategies easier to tune but again won’t be a leap in functionality.. although the uninterrupted shift sequence as in MotoGP (N-1-2-3-so on) would be quite practical.
The tech has been out for a while in cars i.e. DCT, PDK etc… but I don’t think MotoGP uses that specifically and it’s hard to know for sure because no body has disclosed the details but if I were to guess it’s probably something like xtrac’s instantaneous gear change system. It does away with the need for two clutches and uses a ratchet mechanism.
