Who knows if they made any other changes, but they've only mentioned that some of the gears were taller.

Would be cool but it won’t be a huge jump in performance… it will make shifts marginally smoother and quicker.

It will probably make shift or ignition cut strategies easier to tune but again won’t be a leap in functionality.. although the uninterrupted shift sequence as in MotoGP (N-1-2-3-so on) would be quite practical.

The tech has been out for a while in cars i.e. DCT, PDK etc… but I don’t think MotoGP uses that specifically and it’s hard to know for sure because no body has disclosed the details but if I were to guess it’s probably something like xtrac’s instantaneous gear change system. It does away with the need for two clutches and uses a ratchet mechanism.

Posted this in another thread, not sure how or why this would be a mistake on Ducati's part...

And here:

That's an interesting article but his explanation that there's a neutral between gears could be misleading. It's not a neutral like in a conventional 1-2 upshift, but yes there's a minute "neutral phase".

What could be said is that the actual "seamless" aspect of the shift is a result of pre-selected gears already spinning at a suitable speed to vehicle speed rather than the next gear having to speed up or down when selected. It's like the stairs vs an escalator lol, on the stairs there's no neutral when u step up but there's torque variation.

The updated extension of that article has more details...

The article I posted earlier mentions that it’s rumored to be used in the coming Honda RR and Yamaha R1. Or is it referring to DCT? [emoji848]
