Ducati underwrites said no, Bewiser said no and they sponsor Shakey, BeMoto said no, Bennetts, Skippy et al don't want to take the risk - I'm waiting to hear from two more underwriters today then if no I will be going with an S1000RR as the policy for a new one is £400 - then after two years of NCD I will return with a V4S or the new V4R - fingers crossed that I can get a V4S - with even one year NCD I have had quotes of £600 and I'd be very happy to pay that - serves me right for chopping and changing bikes and not building any recent NCD - thanks for all of the responses and recommendations.

Man that's ..... Hope you get sorted with an affordable policy/ cover.

Try Equity Red Star. But actually call them for a quote rather than try a computer engine

BeWiser was £11242 yes 11 grand - Red Star is a no - I have now pulled the trigger on an S100RR insurance is £488 with no NCD and 5 points - thank you for all of the advice - I will be joining the V4S/R club in a year or two but will remain here because I love the bike more than any other that I have ridden to date - enjoy your bikes - cheers Kev.

Good man!God bless

I don't get it. What's the explanation for such an incredible premium? It's not like the S1000RR is grandma's Buick. 400GBP vs 11000???

It happens every time a new high end bike comes out. Especially those over £20k.

After about 6 months on the market, things start to get a little more realistic, but this
is no help to the early adopters.

Anyone in USA getting reasonable quotes as I was just given $1150 a year for Speciale (I am 55 clean everything). Still seems high to me but it might just be me.

Call MCE insurance. They were the only ones that were reasonable. When I initially wanted to get a bike again I got £8k- £12k insurance quotes online. MCE came through with less than £2k for the year. But I had to wait about a week and try the quotes again through compare the market.

My stats when buying the second 1199 after a short hiatus:
Riding for 3 years (officially licenced and legal)
No claims = 0 years (My 1 year had just lapsed)

$1100 USD/year from Geico here for V4S. Seems to be about the going rate.

** Correction, $1100 was my total policy that also has my KTM on it. I think it's closer to $870 for just the V4S.
