What Do You Use To Clean Your 1199?

I'm thinking of waxing the areas where I dont touch while riding. Like the front of the bike, lower side parts and the back so bugs come off easier and it gives paint the protection and also uv protection. Other areas I'll just clean with wet cloth and microfiber cloth to dry off.

Same as what I did with my R1. Never hosed it down or anything. Engine degreaser for grease from chain and wheels.

Pro Honda here..didn't believe friends who told me how good and easy it was...but it is! I got caught out in a heavy rain storm and used it with no prep work at all. Road film and oil came right off...no scratches either.

I used to use Meguiars Ultimate, and was generally happy (except the oily residue at times) until recently. Now I use Black Fire Wet Diamond. It applies easy comes off easy. No residue at all.

This stuff is unbelievable! No more soft paint after using the sealant. The red looks crazy.

Check it out. You will not be disappointed!

I use a 1:1 mix of isopropyl alcohol to get grease / lube off.

Or Poorboys all purpose cleaner.

To expand...

I actually use kero to get grease and lube off.

A 1:1 mix of isopropyl alcohol and water, or 1:15 Poorboys all purpose cleaner and water for general spot cleaning cleaning.

Meguiar's soft wash, two buckets and 3 sponges to wash.
Air gun or leaf blower to dry.

Plexus or Meguiar's quick detailer for a 'spit and polish'.

Autoglym HD wax for some added shine.

Autoglym plastic and rubber cleaner for the plastics to revive them.

Just used the autoglym hd wax.... Seems to have come up a treat, also staying away from the microfiber cloths as they leave small scratches...even the good ones

Swiss Vax for the paint and plastics and Ballistol for the rest.......works magic !

I have used PLEXUS (Spray) to clean my bike, however on a recent trip to the UK my biker mates informed me about AUTO GLYM (Spray *NOT* Wax). I have never come across this particular brand before. PLEXUS is good stuff, yet does not give quite the same "new bike shine" as you see so often in the dealers.

I managed to source AUTO GLYM spray and WOW !! This spray makes the bike so shiny that it is amazing somewhat akin to having a thin layer of glass.

In addition, it makes Matte/Satin Carbon Fiber look even better.

I highly recommend AUTO GLYM over PLEXUS (pics attached).

LOL...this easily take 1hr to 2hr to complete, very similar method I used to clean all my bikes. I recommend investing on an airgun to dry the bike.

I use a gas powered leaf blower to get rid of excess water, hehehe :D

For me in the beginning of every bike season wash and wax now owning 1199 i use maguire's wax, then Honda Polish the rest of the year!!! best stuff in the world!!!
