What top speed?

May be once the Panigale breaks in, the numbers might improve (Top Speed/ HP). After all, as it pertains to (Ducati) V-twin, the benefit is in the way power is delivered to the rear wheel, not terminal numbers:rolleyes:. Lets face it, we are going to have to go hard on the aftermarket performance parts to get to the I4 top end performance (increase compression, full exhaust/ high flow filter/ custom map , gearing, high compression pistons... i.e. built motor, PARTS DEPT, HERE WE COME!!!). Changing out the exhaust/ filter/ custom map may not be enough (depending what your looking for).
Just wanted to know if anyone noted that, on flat out runs in 6th gear, the "dynamic" over-rev indicator on the TFT to warn of over-rev (redline), does not light up. Is the final drive gearing ratio set up so that you can't hit the limiter (red line), or the motor is not strong enough to pull to redline:confused:?
BTW, seems like the PANI is struggling at Brands Hatch (BSB) in the free practice: 28th, 29th, 32nd and 33rd place:(. May be it's the riders?

MOTODOC
Proud to be the test pilot for the 2012 DUCATI 1199 PANIGALE S + ABS

I agree with you Motodoc...I seemed to have noticed that too, that my 1199 "S" seems to be geared too tall...maybe Ducati should have intorduced the bike with a +2 or at least a +1 rear sprocket (40T) as stock instead of (39T)?

I guess that's why Ducati is now coming out with an 41T rear and mapping to match as a special upgrade?

the 41T makes a big difference, faster earlier.
the limitations of the pani in terms of top speed compared to 4s is a fact, both Checa and Canepa complain about the issue. While it is a big handicap in SBK, Canepa is doing great in SS1000.
