they have 2 different riders and both rode all the bikes , as you can see by the times 1 guy is a bit faster than the other but both are consistent and the 1199 was 4th with each rider .
you can't compare with moto GP or WSBK as they are so far removed from what you can buy it is not even worth talking about .
superstock is about the only thing close and they are shinning in that either , yes they are doing ok but this was to be the new superbike destroyer and its 30-40% more cost wise, than the competition its running against .
i liked Ducati in Moto GP until they removed the only factor that made the ducati win Stoneri still hope Hayden does well also . but i don't get blinded by the Brand as many are on here , i had ordered one but canceled as i didn't want to spend 25K on a standard bike knowing i would have to throw half of it in the bin to get it to handle , and this is not just me talking the team that was going to build it for me gave me a list of what he'd to be replaced to make it work and that list was long ,
read back through some of the post on here and other ducati forums , everyone was raving about the HP figures and top speeds , now it turns out to be close to where it was with the 1198 4th or 5th fastest in group test , now no one seams cares about the speed or lap times as they are blinded by the Ducati brand if you want to pay double for a bike that isn't as good as the competition go ahead .
i am going to test ride one next month to see how it goes on track , i hope you are all happy with your new bikes , i know i love my new one 204 hp at the rear wheel , TC , LC , WC pit sped limiter , full spec ohlins factory forks , full carbon body work , 16.5 inch wheels with over sized brembo disks and its proven as it has a 131.6 mph lap of the TT and was 3rd in last years race all this for less than the cost of a standard 1199![]()
Good for you...that's awesome.
You still ride a bike that quite frankly does nothing for me in any real and meaningful way. I am looking at purchasing a track bike (brand and setup) just like yours (some differences but performance should be similar). I chose that because of performance and I won't really give a .... if I leave some pieces laying out on the track.
I would be devastated if I dropped my 1199r on the track or the road for that matter. It is an emotional piece of art and performance. It gives the impression of fast-ness sitting still. It defines beauty and grace in motorcycling but with a nasty growl when you twist her a little to hard.
People want to make this a dollars and cents or performance argument but it doesn't have to be. I have the dollars for any of these bikes but I chose this one...not based on one those lone factors. Performance is within 1.3 frigging seconds of the fastest bikes in the world, it sound is unmatchable (#1 in my rankings) and gives me a hard on, and it is an f'n super model on wheels. Why the hell would I pick anything else
The **Honda, meh...its fast. End of Story!
**insert BMW or any other lurker bike-fan choice
