What's the dumbest thing anyone has said about your bike/gear?

Here is one as well. I walk in the gas station to get some gatorade, and that time I was riding my 2012 Ninja ZX10R. The guy looks at my bike and tells me, that in his country (Pakistan) he can get exactly like my bike for just USD 600. I cracked up and told him, I would love to see that on paper and buy one for that so I resell it here! Deal? Next time i went to the same place guy did not want to say a word about it :).

He's probablly telling the truth.. It is quite common for stolen cars and motorcycles to end up in the middle east. There isn't a whole lot of checking what is LEAVING a port in a container.

Most high dollar cars that are stolen end up over there... I'm sure bikes are no different.

Nothing will surprise me for sure :)

Stolen cars & bikes are not sold for 5% of their original price. Either they are disassembled and assembled back in the country or they are sold as is with a big risk to the buyer. Either ways the biggest discount you would score is 30-40%, nothing more.

i hate when people ask me what something costs. happens all the time. something like this. nice car what do they get for that. that bike is sweet what does something like that go for. havnt found a good comeback for it. the price is what it costs or something.

answer= ENOUGH

Awesome thread. Had a few laughs!

This is when I just purchased the Panigale and temp tag was still on it.

This guy walks up and says "hey, did you just get the bike?"
Me- "...."
Him- "I guess you did since you still have the temp tag"
Me- "you guessed right..."
Him- "How fast does it go?"
Me- ".............."

not a stupid story, just think it's amusing:

Prius driver: what is the MPG you get out of that (Duc)?
me: around 30
Prius driver: i almost double that, son!

we both had a good laugh!

Everything's a trade-off! You traded gas milage for awesomeness, and he traded awesomeness for gas milage! :D

There are no dumb questions...just poor attempts to keep the conversation going longer...

good thing he didnt go into the carbon foot print argument, cuz i am one of the most environmental frendly commuter out there, i do all 100 miles of commuting per week on bicycle, and the 1199 is strictly a weekend toy :D

Most boring comment I used to get was "you look like a spaceman" and that's from adults.

Most WTF question was "is she a 6 or a 12 volt". That was from some old guy back in the late 70's or early 80's.

My answer for the how much question is "same as a 6 pack of mind your own business".

Locals from the Philippines always say " Wow! Motor, pang mayaman lang yan, Ducati kasi eh"

Translation: "Woow! Motorcycle for the Rich only, its a Ducati thats why"

I have some track day photos in my office and at home and there is always someone who says "your crazy - that is so dangerous"

Then I have to tell them I am on a track with experienced riders who understand safety and respect each other vs. being on the street with a bunch of nimrods fixing their hair or texting. I much rather be on the track going balls out rather then doing 35 in traffic.

They still look at me like I'm crazy

They'll never get it ;)

Indeed. They just dont get it.

being crazy and living-experiencing things is way better than being a drone in your SUV with your cafe mocha and mobile phone

in my opinion

I tell people you don't have to live today like it's your last, only like it could be.

I am updating my daftest thing anyone has said to me about the Ducati 1199 Panigale.

The latest is " If you paid so much money for that bike, then why do you have to modify it with all the performance accessories .. even if you going to take it on the track. I think your crazy (sic) and I don't understand why you don't just leave it stock. Why even buy a bike like that if it does not come with everything you need for the track ?" Source : A fellow male biker.

I accept the I am crazy bit, even after explaining for over an hour I made no progress on clarifying my rational.

I ended it with .. I do what I do as it reminds me what I went through to earn each and every dollar to purchase the bike and in addition it reflects skills that I do not and will not have.
