What's the verdict on the shield?

For those of you who have had the new heat shield installed, what is your verdict? Does it noticeably reduce the heat one feels or does it hold in more heat not allowing it to vent out?

I am not trying to start a heat war (Yes Trauma, we know-what heat) but just want to hear people's opinions who have had it installed.

Don't worry - now that CF is whining, I am giving it more credence. I noticed a small difference with the rear part of the new shield, as it was close to my RC (CF w/ foil). i would recommend the rear as a no brainer. It is going to be up to individuals do they want to hide the cylinder to gain a little less radiant heat on your legs.

Don't have a base for comparison, but I can comment on my experience with the new heat shield. The experience is in a colder climate 0-5 Celsius. There is a fair amount of under seat heat, but the effect on colder days is more like a heated seat in a car. I could not feel any difference between left and right thigh, come to think of it not much heat coming through to the thigh area at all. I'm wearing leathers with base layer. So far no "heat" issues.

Heat, who cares . I wrapped my pipes and the heat is ok, but after being in traffic for 15 minutes it still radiates out. I'm more pissed about no oil sight glass. That's it, I'm getting the Dremel out and cutting out a piece right now........

I test rode a Panigale for 110 miles a couple of months before I got mine. Mine was delivered with the new heat shield. Yes, it absolutely fixed the heat. I feel some heat in stop and go traffic when the coolant gets around 200 degrees. When I hit the open road again the heat is totally gone....totally. Very different than the one I test rode.

Just got my bike back from the shop for its first service. Had them install the new shield even though I wasn't having a problem with heat. Decided to have it put on anyway since it was free and I will probably put on a CF unit in the future. Haven't ridden with it yet, but I have to say that I don't think it looks all that bad. It definitely looked worse in photos than it does in person. Hope the weather holds and I can get out for a good ride tomorrow!

i rode my Tricolore 2300 miles without and it was hot, especially on short trips while wearing jeans. i put the shield 2 days ago and can tell the difference for the better. it is not too bad looking so i am willing to trade the looks for few degrees down. once summer starts in Texas i will like it even more, gteed!

The Pani is just HOT period! I had to go in for a rear tire and service told me that the rear shields are mandatory and the sides are optional. I will take it back in at the end of the month for it.

I thought it was fugly at 1st but I saw one on a bike in the showrrom and it wasn't that bad. I have seen far worse things on other bikes!

Frog, let us know your thoughts once you have had a chance to see for yourself.

Anyone in Florida, Arizona, Texas who has it please be sure to let us all know your thoughts.

I have it.... Hasn't gotten hot here yet....but so far I am not convinced its really much different...

Nice, i'm getting mine installed next week. Can't wait.

Did you get a letter from Ducati canada regarding the heatshield? I just got my panigale recently and still have not gotten any notice regarding a heat shield, plus my local deal still says they got no info regarding a new heatshield:rolleyes: I am starting to think that maybe Canada does not get it due to it being so cold here;)

I did mine yesterday, on my way to the shop there was a lot of traffic on the freeway, so i had to split lanes most of the way, lane splitting is how i have noticed the heat the most since I mostly ride in 2nd gear from slow to really winding it up and back a lot.

the reason i mention this is because it was my last memory of the bike as they took it into the service bay, my leg was a bit warm.

the mechanic told me 25-30% of the heat would be gone or dissipated after the switch, i had my doubts.

I rode about 100 miles after the service, maybe 30 of them again lane splitting and i will honestly say that the reduction in heat was so noticeable that i am shocked. Bravo to the engineers that managed to work this out.

Mine goes in for the recall and first service Sat.

Honestly looking forward to the new heat shield.
