So, all you short sighted proponents of AI... what good are human beings if AI is doing everything? How will you earn a living, get food, build things, when AI is doing everything and we are just watching it happen? What the hell good is it to be alive when you aren't living?

The game is going to be how you can leverage AI to your benefit. But AI isn’t a be-all end-all tech. It’s just another tool. Another “Industrial Revolution” or “internet” type paradigm shift.

AI isn’t good at complex non-algorithmic tasks or reasoning. There’s no way AI would be able to self-drive in say Bali or Vietnam or India where it’s too chaotic. It won’t be able to do surgery on its own. It’ll be able to assist humans but not be independent.

Ah you're catching on. My point. If intuition is simply the unconscious processing of one's knowledge, then silicon based sentient beings will be superior to us. AI is going to change the world. If the rest of us cannot be exploited by the rich than we are of no use to them. As Steven hopes the structure of society will have to change. But we need to be careful that they don't go hide in their bunkers and on their islands while an airborne version of ebola is released.

AI is in its infancy. Need about 20+ years for it to be mature. Internet is 40 years old and just now being figured out.

I don't think that is the case. AI can be used to refine AI. What that means for our day to day lives, we don't know, but it's not going to take it 40 years to get figured out. If I had to guess we have just a couple of years and I find that concerning. Exciting, but concerning.

No, Humanity will become obsolete because the machines will build machines to replace us. Skynet will become a reality, in some form, and there will be a tipping point where Humanity will just lose. We MUST be able to do for ourselves without the aid of machines and AI. MUST

AI is going to turn the music business into slop- spotify has untold AI streams. Music execs are wetting themselves over the profits but hang on whats really happening? Spotify is dying, killing the golden goose as it delivers mostly old music and AI garbage since who is supporting new music? Guess what people are doing, going to LIVE music, the real thing. Not my taste but Taylor Swift has killed it live and made bazillions. AI has no humanity or soul, it reads the net then makes a clever interpretation of it, republishes it which then it reads again with data degradation- do that a few times and all you are left with is crap. AI articles are generally absolute garbage, sort of a long form panibadboy rantings let loose on the world stage....

AI refining AI sounds like the blind leading the blind. AI only learns by humans telling it the correct answer. So if you have bad training data you can get into loads of trouble. If this is iterated on then it’s bad data refining bad data. I ran this by ChatGPT and it concurred with my analysis

AI is still in its infancy. Quantum computing will end with us creating sentient silicon-based entities. Believe me quantum processing speeds will far exceed biological ones. Problematic. We may in the end merge with them somehow. I doubt if we can travel faster than light unless our universe and its physics is a subset of another, greater space that encapsulates our universe and we learn to manipulate its physics. If we can't travel faster than light, we'll never travel very far unless we can somehow merge with them and become immortal. Jesus bagger what a rabbit trail...
