So, all you short sighted proponents of AI... what good are human beings if AI is doing everything? How will you earn a living, get food, build things, when AI is doing everything and we are just watching it happen? What the hell good is it to be alive when you aren't living?
 
The game is going to be how you can leverage AI to your benefit. But AI isn’t a be-all end-all tech. It’s just another tool. Another “Industrial Revolution” or “internet” type paradigm shift.

AI isn’t good at complex non-algorithmic tasks or reasoning. There’s no way AI would be able to self-drive in say Bali or Vietnam or India where it’s too chaotic. It won’t be able to do surgery on its own. It’ll be able to assist humans but not be independent.

Ah you're catching on. My point. If intuition is simply the unconscious processing of one's knowledge, then silicon based sentient beings will be superior to us. AI is going to change the world. If the rest of us cannot be exploited by the rich than we are of no use to them. As Steven hopes the structure of society will have to change. But we need to be careful that they don't go hide in their bunkers and on their islands while an airborne version of ebola is released.

I don't think that is the case. AI can be used to refine AI. What that means for our day to day lives, we don't know, but it's not going to take it 40 years to get figured out. If I had to guess we have just a couple of years and I find that concerning. Exciting, but concerning.

No, Humanity will become obsolete because the machines will build machines to replace us. Skynet will become a reality, in some form, and there will be a tipping point where Humanity will just lose. We MUST be able to do for ourselves without the aid of machines and AI. MUST
 
AI is going to turn the music business into slop- spotify has untold AI streams. Music execs are wetting themselves over the profits but hang on whats really happening? Spotify is dying, killing the golden goose as it delivers mostly old music and AI garbage since who is supporting new music? Guess what people are doing, going to LIVE music, the real thing. Not my taste but Taylor Swift has killed it live and made bazillions. AI has no humanity or soul, it reads the net then makes a clever interpretation of it, republishes it which then it reads again with data degradation- do that a few times and all you are left with is crap. AI articles are generally absolute garbage, sort of a long form panibadboy rantings let loose on the world stage....
 
AI refining AI sounds like the blind leading the blind. AI only learns by humans telling it the correct answer. So if you have bad training data you can get into loads of trouble. If this is iterated on then it’s bad data refining bad data. I ran this by ChatGPT and it concurred with my analysis

AI is still in its infancy. Quantum computing will end with us creating sentient silicon-based entities. Believe me quantum processing speeds will far exceed biological ones. Problematic. We may in the end merge with them somehow. I doubt if we can travel faster than light unless our universe and its physics is a subset of another, greater space that encapsulates our universe and we learn to manipulate its physics. If we can't travel faster than light, we'll never travel very far unless we can somehow merge with them and become immortal. Jesus bagger what a rabbit trail...

Wait a minute...let me get this straight.

You are saying that the world should let any nuclear power country invade, occupy and annex any other non-nuclear country without trying to defend the country being invaded and should even tell the invaded country to just accept what is happening?

you just woke up today mate ? US has invaded at least 2-3 countries in last 20 years.

Ukraine had become a fair game the moment Biden offered to expand NATO there and put nukes next to Russian border. Cuban missile crisis reversed.

Im saying nothing, its an observation. The world is not black and white, i.e lately the so called good guys have been making bank selling bombs to help another state commit genocide. Nothing is what it seems.

I do not think that justifies an invastion...and I hope most Americans agree. Let's compare ukraine invation to people for 1 second...:
  • you start dating a woman who was previously married
  • her ex-huband forces his way into her house saying...this is mine, you are mine to your new gf
  • is this right?
What a country does is it's own right as a sovereign nation. No other nation should be able to dictate (specially by force) what that soverign nation does. That does not mean what a nation does in its own country is without international consequences (including occupation in some very rare instance) but invasion for forming aliances and trying to join a mutual defence organisation like NATO? really? You think this would be justified? You think this should not be opposed? come on...

I also do not agree with all actions taken by the USA...but that is another topic. Without searching extensively, I would guess over 80% of US troops in foreign countries are at the request of the host nation...but that is just a guess. When/if the USA invades a foreign country for something like China/North Korea forming a mutual defence organisation...or a trading partner joining BRICS - then I would hope most, if not all, other countries would join to oppose the USA.

That's just recent events. Not talking about NATO bombing of Yugoslavia.

I just gave you example of Cuban missile crisis. A sovereign nation decided to join a military alliance on the border of the US and deploy ICMBs. You know how it ended ? or you were not even born when this happened ?

For info. I am from Canada so I am well aware of the shortcomings of the US. I was born in 1969 so no, I was not around - were you?

Also, since when does the US doing a dick move justify Russia doing the same. If that means I have typical European mentality...ok...personally I think it is more an over 10y military career mentality and I feel the strong should PROTECT the weak, not oppress it..but you do you.

I'll say this final thing - extreme left or right is bad for the world...just like any other extremist movement.
