Who is excited about the Ducati V4?

Sorry to disappoint you but that's the real deal.

Well I would be amazed at Ducati's lack of security in allowing a photo to be taken quite so openly and then distributed on the net. There is normally a complete embargo on cameras/mobiles extending to all staff or anyone working on or testing pre-production models. Also, almost without exception, every test bike, whether it is close to the finished product or not never runs with coloured bodywork and even at this stage if the 1098/1199 are anything to go by, would be heavily disguised. The only time a finished bike would see the light of day before a launch would be for studio shots for the brochures and promo videos. These again are subject to strict security. Another reason I dispute this as genuine is that when models have broken cover before Ducati has usually responded pretty quickly. Remember the leaked brochure photos of the 1098 by a Ducati employee, that meant they were forced to release the promo video before EICMA 2007. The fact that they are saying nothing in response to this image, speaks volumes, as they are clearly not concerned by it. I think we can all drew conclusions from that.

If you are so sure it is genuine can you elaborate as to where and when it was taken and what was the occasion, testing, photo shoot etc? If this thing was real, there would have been some shots of it circulating the track. There are, as have already been posted on here, some glaring issues with this image. For starters, there is no join between the upper fairing and the nose cone/over tank panels, which would mean this was a one piece construction. Not exactly practical/feasible or possible to construct, which screams photoshop. Also there are quite clear signs of digital editing of this photo around the rear brake/footrest area and lower fairing edge. You will need to come up with something more concrete to convince anyone on here its real I am afraid. Admittedly someone has gone to great effort to match the image to the spy shots of the test bikes, but that does not make it genuine.

Ok. Not sure where you're getting that first paragraph but it's almost complete fantasy.

I don't feel a need to convince anyone here of anything, you can believe me (or not) as you like. We will see soon, won't we?

I seem to remember you had some links or used to work for the factory at some stage, therefore you are better placed than anyone if true, to be able to authenticate it by adding some facts to the image as opposed to opinion, that's all. I know that pit garage is in Mugello but that's the only thing which is clear at this stage. If this picture IS genuine it would be an unprecedented and hugely embarrassing security leak for the factory so close to the launch at EICMA in a few weeks time. Seems odd given the security around the Supersport launch for example, when only one poor quality mobile phone picture made it onto the net which was taken at Misano during WDW 2016. I've even seen people speculating this is Allessandro Valia in the picture, though that might add some weight to its authenticity. Either way I hope this is NOT the finished design as it's not what many on here were hoping for.

Comparing both pictures.. it looks like the fairing will come to the tank

Wow, when TJ posts, I tend to listen. That being said, put me in the disappointed camp. That may also simply be an unflattering angle. The prototype doesn't look that bad.

I certainly understand that it's hard to believe, but unfortunately that doesn't make it less true.

Probably taken during the bike's video shoot, the timing's about right.
Definitely Mugello, definitely Ale, and definitely the bike.

Or not? As you wish to believe. Like I said we'll see soon.

an aesthetic atrocity that makes the pani series look that much more beautiful; it even makes the 999 look good, and that's saying something.

ducati has royally ...... up and given the inferior 1299SL and 1299FE paint schemes, i find it less surprising actually that they have made such an abominable misstep with the design. even the new SS is horrible.

ducati have abandoned the flowing, graceful, minimalist lines that made the pani such a design achievement both in terms of form and function.

sad!

I'm not passing judgement until there is an official release. I have a difficult time believing that image is the final product.

Having said that, I wouldn't mind. Because it would make me thrilled to keep riding my Panigale for the next 5 and not regret anything.

Well you, if anybody on here could, would know if its real TJ99 and on scrutiny of the picture, it does look a lot like Alessandro. If this is the video shoot then its not going to change from what we see here in terms of its form and design. Given that, I have to say I'm utterly disappointed.

I've never seen that article before so thank you for posting.

For what it's worth, I expect that render of the bike to be fairly accurate in that I suspect that the new bike isn't going to look completely different than the Panigale. Unlike before, I don't think that the new bike will have a completely new look.

Trust me. I am quite familiar with how they do it. I've owned ducatis for almost 20 years. Furthermore, if you knew what I do for a living you would know that I'm pretty familiar with the development process for new models for high end European automobile and motorcycle manufacturers. I appreciate the lesson, though.

I'll say it again: I have a strong suspicion that this V4 will indeed be different to what has historically happened. Everyone expects it to be completely different looking. I do not. The bike will be completely different, yes, but I don't suspect the styling to be a completely new style the way it usually is.

Another reason why I suspect that it will be more of an evolution of the Panigale as opposed to a completely new design (revolution) as has happened in the past with the new Ducati Superbike development and introduction is because the Supersport has a lot of Panigale in its design. Why do that if they're going to completely go away from the design? I think that they want to draw clients who want the Superbike but realize that the Supersport is the more road and street friendly version of that. I think Ducati will want to retain a family resemblance.

I hate to say "I told you so" but...
