Comparing both pictures.. it looks like the fairing will come to the tank

I hope they do not dilute what the brand stands for in respect to beautiful design. I would say that many old Ducatisti find the Panigale in pictures ugly compared to the 916 era, but when you see it in the flesh it's incredibly beautiful.

The body work looks like it's just two pieces, nose cone and belly pan, which would be good in my books as the stock Panigale five piece fairings are not practical at the track.

The seat on the red bike at Mugello looks strangely low like a GSXR/BMW? it doesn't look that way on the black bike pictures so must be a trick of the camera I guess?

One thing to note is that the designer of the 1199/1299 left Ducati for Yamaha over a year ago.

Quite likely he started the v4 design, then left (for some reason ;), see TJ's comment about problems at Ducati HQ). I believe the designers of the Scrambler then finished the v4 design.

Something tells me the v4 would be prettier (less of a 1299/SS hybrid) if the designer of the 1199/1299 Panigale was allowed to have his way with it.

Very close. But Gianni never had a hand in the V4.

You're right that he absolutely would have done it differently. We share the same opinion that it should've been its own thing, rather than a .......ized variant of his original Pani design which was, let's face it, a masterpiece. He doesn't even particularly like the design modifications made for the 1299, although I have to disagree with him there.

It seems to me Ducati squandered the opportunity to really bring something fresh to the market with all the hype and anticipation that surrounded the announcement of the V4.
It's quite disappointing.

I see Ducati posting info about the new "Desmosedici Stradale" with some sort of media release on Sept 10th on bookface.

The launch of the engine (or at least it's sound) is set to be unveiled tomorrow at 12pm (7th Sept). No idea what the plan is for the 10th Sept. Perhaps it will be a screened off area/marquee as it was for the Supersport launch at Misano (WDW2016), so guessing someone will manage to get a spy shot of the bike or engine (whichever it is thats on display). Maybe TJ99 knows if it's the bike they are displaying on the 10th. I cant help wondering if this is damage limitation after the leaked image this week, since Ducati will doubtless have read some of the negative feedback it is getting. Makes no sense to unveil the engine "sound" and then the bike three days later. What happened to all the teaser videos we have come to expect. That or Bologna HQ are rapidly re-thinking the launch itinerary.

Seeing as it seems to be a legit leak, who knows, it may be them moving up the release.

I can only echo the sentiments here, if the leaked pic is the new v4, it looks woeful.

As someone said all the hype re the v4, dressed like a cheap date.

Hopefully we're wrong !

@TJ99. Great input & invaluable really, because ppl should be listening.

That's a D16RR engine incidentally (just Google it and see what comes up). If Ducati replicate this, I am sure it will have some improvements added and slightly different architecture, else this is a backwards step IMHO.

Also seems as if the model name "Desmosedici Stradale" is potentially official and not Panigale V4 (as the spy shot in the Mugello pit garage shows). They state on their website it is going on display at Misano on Sunday, with the engine being unveiled today. We should expect to see at least one grainy spy shot by Monday!!

im not sure about the name. i think desmosedici stradale can be the name of the engine like superquadro.
