Who is excited about the Ducati V4?

And is that 196kg dry weight do you think?

Probably wet with 90% fuel, which is their standard spec. Makes it 5.5kg, or 12.1lb heavier than the 1299's claimed weight. I had guessed it would come in at around 435lb claimed, so I missed by 3.8. Pretty much ends their reign as being the lightest liter bike by a stretch. But it'll still be on the light end of the bunch, and if it works a lot better it won't matter.

Swedish dealer says its the R,not a tricolore.
So you have spoken to them. It's official? Amazed they are so candid with you after such a big mistake publishing the information in the first place. I thought they were still bound by the NDA. Can't imagine Ducati will be too impressed by this.

I think the real excitement for me with that post is a 959 Panigale Corse. Hope its like a full R but with the 959 motor. Or even something between an R and SL.

that would be cool.

Can I ask why for you? Looks like you have the SL?

Because I love the SL so much, a smaller displacement version to go along with it could be pretty neat.

Let's face it, who needs 194 RWHP on tap all the time? Something that put out closer to 130hp and be a little less high strung but with all the same characteristics might be a great companion bike.

Ah ok. I thought maybe you wanted a dedicated track bike. My R is full time track bike and I love. I like to see 959 Corse and if I would like it or not.

Well, the idea is that it would be the one bike that's best suited to the track for me (although the 999R is good, too). But it would get used more than that. I am interested in seeing what it is like.

regarding the 959 corse, It's been a while since Ducati did a real special smaller displacement superbike that was really special. The 749R comes to mind and I was really keen to get one after having an S model but the prices of the 749R were so close to a 1098 I just couldn't do it.

I have a 959 and do agree with you guys about a trick 959 being a great idea but I don't see them doing anything except bolt on bits :(

Agree. Prices are so close that it will be very difficult to make a "Special" yet fit into specific price..

You're describing the difference between a "real" homologation special and a bike built for sales purposes. The 749R was Ducati's homologation special for World SuperSport racing, and it was the last one since Ducati pulled out of WSS after that. Ducati literally lost money selling those bikes, that's not something you should expect as a standard course of business. I had one, never should have sold it. Subsequently, the 848 Evo Corse was the next middleweight special, and yes it was "bolt-on bits" added to a base bike, but came with lots of great stuff for a reasonable premium over the base bike, and it looked awesome. When we get a used one in, it sells out right away, people still love that bike.

Alongside the 821, we all know that Ducati will premiere the new V4 and THREE new models, one of which, the Italian press recently revealed will be a Scrambler 1100.

The new Scrambler will be based on the engine from the Monster 1100 EVO and naturally Euro 4 compliant. 3 versions will be available - a basic version, such as the Icon 800, a classic design with spoked wheels and a more sporty version with Ohlins suspension and double discs at the front.

Ducati V4 is nice but it dont have that WOW factor for me. im leaning more towards the remake of the BMW S1000RR

Seriously? Cheeses, I thought I was done but now I might be buying a couple of new Ducatis again next year.

Ah, Sherpa, I'd like to be done too but as long as we are breathing and riding, Ducati Marketing will find a way to pry open our pocketbooks once more. Local dealer knows more than he's willing to specify but I wouldn't be surprised if there's a 230 hp V4 R model that spins to 15K rpm. There goes the budget.

Haha. So true!
